Just got the update on mine - no lag so far and its on stock android.
Anyone else finding their battery life is gone to **** since the update? Google Services seems to be the highest battery use now; put it down last night at about 85% left and when I looked at it this evening its down to 14% :(

Has argos stopped selling the Nexus 7? I can't find it on their website.

I bought a 32gb Nexus 7 in Argos in Portlaoise on Friday.

I had reserved it, saw it on an ad in the Star, but when I went to the shop, it didn't appear on the self check machine.

I went to Customer Service and they said they had 10 in stock, so I reserved it and collected on Friday. So it might not be up on their system, but they might have it in stock, so best thing is to call in and ask.

I got it for 239.99 by the way.

Google Currents was found to be slowing down 4.2. if your seeing your N7 slowing down or your battery going down faster try open Currents, hit settings and unchek background Sync and restart.

Edit: post above says same thing....

Hi folks. Thinking of getting a Nexus 7 3g. Are the3g models available in Ireland? From what I've seen , there is not much reference to them here on these forums which leads me to believe they are not sold here?
    Cheers

I think you can only get it on the UK play store...you need tunnelbear or other VPN service to access the store, parcel motel for delivery, and new google wallet account for billing purposes (add parcel motel postcode to billing address or change credit card delivery address to parcel motels address)

Theres a user on the other thread who is thinking of selling his that he ordered by mistake (last post)

Ok, so I struggled a little with the title... :pac:

Figured it would be useful to have a separate thread for people who already own this device and would like to discuss useful apps, info about rooting, acquiring google play credit and so forth!

Heres a useful link regarding flash support to get the ball rolling. :)

And some other useful tips regarding USB device mounting. :D

I just updated to jelly bean 4.2 but landscape mode doesn't seem to work?

Ya I ordered it. Be patient as it does take a good bit to get here but you should have it in the next week i'd imagine.

I really like it but I kind of miss my nexus by itself. Still out of the cases, it's really good. And as an added bonus, it turns it on and off too.

Also to the turning on and off part the bloody tablet keeps waking its self up! Whats this all about have it sitting on the desk here and screen keeps randomly turning on hopefully its a bug and not the hardware. :(

Very happy with my purchase, i was going to get a Nexus 10 but the N7 just seemed to suit my needs perfectly.
I cant get over how nice the screen is,especially when i increase the brightness.
Highly recommended to anyone sitting on the fence.

Yes, I've nearly 30Gb uploaded over the last few months. You just need to use the vpn to sign up.

    Hi all,

I just got a Nexus 7 last night and loving it so far. I'm not into gadgets and other than an MP3 player and my laptop this is it my techy total so far.

Setting up the unit was so simple and everything synched with my facebook, google accounts etc, downloaded some apps and everything was super. It told me an update was available for Android so I installed that as instructed.

Now comes the problem. I can't copy any files from my laptop to my Nexus. I connected the USB cable, it installed the drivers and all looked good.

According to my laptop, the Nexus is connected and working fine. According to my Nexus, it's connected to my laptop as a media device and everything should work fine. However, when I try to drag and drop files into my Nexus I get an error message saying "The device has either stopped responding or been disconnected".

It hasn't been disconnected and I don't know what else to do. I have tried diconnecting it, then switched off the laptop, re-connecting and re-starting the laptop but nothing has changed.

I have googled this issue but can't seem to find an answer that doesn't involve really techy sounding stuff that I don't understand.

Surely it can't be that complicated to copy a few music files and pdf's?

Get Airdroid. For a quick fix, if you have wireless at home.

    Thanks acalmenvoy,

That worked, although it still seems pointlessly complicated to me. I had presumed that I would just "drag and drop" files like I do to my MP3 player.

Anyway, I'm a technophobe at the best of times.

    Thanks again.

Nope, that didnt fix it. Google Services still accounts for about ~30% of all battery use; I've hardly used it since a full charge yesterday morning and its down at 40% this morning :(

    Hi all,
Heads fried trying to order a Nexus 7.
    Have tunnelbear running.
Logged into wallet. changed new address to parcel post one listed for the north.
Upon coming to checkout, I add a new payment method which is my irish credit card, irish address with the postal code from the depot up north at the end?
Keeps saying technical error and not it's saying my Card is invalid?
    Any thoughts.
    Thanks in advance

I want to get the 3g version Steve. I spend a bit of time travelling. Also do some night photography here in Ireland as well so want to be able to be mobile when stuck out doing landscape photography at all hours of the day/night.
I've friends up north that I could as to order it for me but would like to do it myself. Have tried everything as suggested here on these threads but no joy.

If you have an android phone you could use it as a hotspot for the tablet using the phone's 3G. Possible solution?

You're not charged for the tethering. Test it out with your laptop. Also, it would be better to put down 10 euro on an extra few gigabytes on your phone plan rather than having an additional plan for another device.

Just remember though that some apps will treat the connection a bit differently. Some apps might use data conservatively on a mobile connection but go all out on a Wifi connection.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 User name eh?

Thanks for the heads up. Either ways I'd like the 3g for travel.
Thanks again. Just tried again there to order and no joy. Think I'll create a fresh account and use the mothers credit card. Who'd have thought it would be this hard to part with money :-)

If I do decide to go with the wifi only, wher ein ireland has the best deals/availability
    Thanks again

    Hi guys/gals,

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the 4.2 (or I guess 4.2.1) jellybean update! My Nexus 7 is rooted with clockworkmod. I've got the message to get a system update around 4 times and each time i accept the update fails! I also tried updating manually via clockworkmod but this fails each time I attempt it too!

    Cheers :)

You'll need to revert to a stock recovery. You'll invariably find the details on how to do this in the rooting guide you used.
