Edit Sorry!! - wrong forum. Can this be moved to Cable & Digital TV??

Just realised last night BBC HD / BBC One HD don't just have the Olympics opening ceremony in 3D, but also a highlights package. Some sports (the slalom canoeing and synchronised diving in particular) are spectacular in 3D.

Yes, the goggles are an annoyance, in particular if you need to do anything else while watching TV; plus you can't really use them in brightly lit rooms as the shutter flicker becomes really obvious. Even so, the Olympics in 3D really are the ideal advertisement for 3D broadcasting (cough... apart from 3D porn ...cough).

Hope this is a sign of things to come. Great to have something that isn't subject to the Sky tax. (Step 1. Buy exclusive rights to something free/cheap. Step 2. Make it expensive. Step 3. Profit €€€€€€€€€).

The mens 100m final is live in 3D.

3D has been one of the biggest flops in the history of formats, there is and will be very little content going forward.

Until we get to the stage of affordable glassless tv's that can be used in normal room conditions its only a gimmick. Yes some things look good, but that isn't going to make people shell out extra for it.
