    Bunbeg, Co. Donegal

    Some very heavy showers overnight.

Grey showery morning, first time Errigal has been completely shrouded in cloud since we arrived.

Have to make the decision to stay or come home today? To stay we need access to the beach for my 8 year old body boarder? Fingers crossed?

Fantastic image lostinashford. Dunno what it was like in Wicklow but here in Loughlinstown we only had a couple of light showers with two very distant sounding rumbles of thunder (I only heard them because the window was open beside me). All the action seemed further north.

Rathnew yesterday morning according to WicklowNews.net

after getting real dark in athlone, but there's no sound outside except the sound of wind chimes clinking together in the light wind.

It's almost like a scene straight out of twister... 30 seconds before the tornado hits.

...... I can even hear the atmospheric music in the back of my head

    dun dun dun dun dun....

Yeah, Really dark clouds after coming in very surprised there's no action but I suppose it's not as warm as previous days. Pity, as I missed the action last week and the week before :(

Three 360 Panoramas from my stay in Donegal, first two of Bunbeg and Carrickfinn beaches, last one of my mates house (no weather but shows how some in Donegal gave themselves an outdoor space in the past, main house, now weatherproof but not lived in for over 20 years dates from about 1850, the habitable part is a conversion of the old stables)

    Tipping down now

Got caught in a really nasty shower yesterday evening and I was only in my garden! Came out of nowhere like stair-rods.

Has rained constantly now for 6 or 7 hours, from the radar it seems that the rain is just rotating around with us at the centre of it!
So much for Met Eireann's "patchy outbreaks of rain but most places dry"... its been flipping continuous rain.

    Shercock, Co. Cavan.

Only 1.3mm of rain at Dublin Airport at 9am report. Hmmmm... why does it always appears to be AWAY off the mark?

Not sure what you are unhappy about? Too dry? Too wet?

    Up to 8.0mm here now.

Not bothered about that context, just wondering how they calculate the number provided and how accurate it is. Looking at Met's own rainfall radar, Dublin Airport got a good lashing of rain this morning and the 1.3mm for 8am-9am doesnt appear to be accurate.

Not a scientific answer, but, it is what it is! :)

Bewteen 8am and 9am, it looked like no rainfall at 0800, then radar was showing rainfall intensities in the area of Dublin AP generally of 0.5 to 1.5mm/hr and some small areas of 1.5 to 5.0mm/hr. Dublin AP obvioulsy did not get the later intensity so 1.3mm recorded is probably (or I would suggest is) accurate.

Up to 9.0mm here this morning. Rain has gone light now.

Nice morning but some heavy showers moved up the east coast this afternoon and evening.

Seemed Noticeably cooler this morning! Maybe due to wind direction?
