Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The company Early Flicker, or E-Flicker, has registered the headless man logo and the slogan 'We are Anonymous, We do not forgive, We do not forget. Expect us' with the French National Institute of Industrial Property. This would allow the company to produce and sell merchandising bearing the logo, and potentially to take action against others who use it in France.

"Their arrogance and ignorance of what they have done will not go unpunished," promised the group in a video on YouTube.

    *me gets popcorn*

    +1 for publicity
-1000 for making your company target #1

This has to be up there as one of the most stupid ideas ever. Along with those Danish cartoons.

I predict their website might crash.

Why didn't Anon register it before?

Its a good publicity stunt. I'm glad its working and glad it's pissing anonymous off. Their arrogant "we're going to destroy you" attitude towards all enemies has become extremely irritating, especially when they shut down a websites that people use everyday for work.

I predict a distorted voice making empty threats presides a DDOS which lasts for a couple of hours...

Whose name would they put on the form ?

It may be a publicity stunt for the company in France - but they won't be able to make much money when all their systems crash. I wouldn't be trusting them at the moment with my credit card details knowing who will be attacking them soon.

Idiocy on behalf of the company - they could just have used the logo without trying to copyright it. I wonder how much this will cost them before it is over.

    Mike Hunt.

    Amanda Hugginkiss.

    I.P. Freely.

    Jacques Strap.

    Hugh Jass.

They're gonna DDOS their croissants, leaving many French people highly irritable.

Even for a publicity stunt I don't think it's a good idea when they've opened themselves for attack for a couple of months. It's going to set them back money and smear their name with constant attacks.

I thought most of the group of acne ridden teenage shut-ins from the Scottish Isles and Birmingham bedsits had been arrested, if not then they may just be able to launch a DDOS on this guys website for the 5 minutes they will last.

Aside from the backlash, their idea is slightly flawed. Who'd buy an Anonymous t-shirt?

People who want to be anonymous?

In fairness to Anonymous they do some decent things...
Like I know last year they messed with the Mexican Cartels after one of their members was kidnapped by them. They've also gone after the child porno ring several times as well.

They backed down pretty quick from the cartels.

Don't think Anonymous would like them to use the logo even if they didn't trademark it. My tea leaves tell me that pickapop.fr are gonna be in a world of hurt soon

    No they didn't they won.

The cartels can't threaten anon, because anon isn't anybody.

They obviously didn't win, the cartels are hardly bankrupt. Anon exists as much as any loose collection of people, on the Internet. Or elsewhere.

"Hacker group backs away from exposing people it believes are connected to Zetas cartel after alleged threat of killings"
while he said he was comfortable with running personal risks and "passing a death sentence" on those he identified, the wider retaliation threat had made him "rethink my position".

In other words, they backed down.

One person, who is the opposite of anonymous, given that he allowed himself to be names, gave a sound bite to the guardian.

Operation Cartel happened because an anon was kidnapped in mexico, the reason it was started was to force them to free her with threats of releasing dox.

The anon was released, the dox weren't released, that's how it was always going to work.

They knew if they released anything the people they were trying to help would have just been killed.

The thing is, anonymous are not stopping people from using the image on whatever they want. The fact that some knob-end(s) is trying to 'capture' it for profit and prevent anyone else from using it is what's annoying.

That's what so frustrating about copyright law - you are almost forced into playing the game because some greedy bastard will 'capture' your stuff that you want to be 'open source'.

Anyone stupid enough to buy anything off the company should be summarily punched in the throat.

This French company may just be a front in order for them to make money from the logo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Fiery mutant

Anonymous will just have to turn up en masse at the firm headquarters and they will probably surrender.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.
