Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey Folks,

My good lady has a week or so off from next week. I don't as I just started a new job fairly recently. We might nab a weekend away but I'm looking for some ideas as to what we could do.

Anywhere interesting, scenic, adventurous we could go? I'm open to all sorts of suggestions, IE- horse riding, mountain biking, going to the theatre somewhere. I just need somewhere I can bring her away for a short revitalizing break. My not being off has her in something of a grumpy mood as she's not relishing a week on her own essentially........ she doesn't entertain herself very well!

Kilkenny city for a weekend would be lovely. It's a medieval city with lots to do. Definately recommend there. Plus it's close to Wicklow and glendalough where the 1st person recommended

there's actually some kind of a festival going on in Kilkenny soon too, http://www.kilkennyarts.ie/, and shopping at the castle shop, and in town is lovely too.

I love the Beara peninsula, every where you look is gorgeous. There's a lovely hotel in Glengarriff right in the centre, from there it's easy to take the drive round the peninsula, have seafood in Kenmare and then drive back to Glengarriff straight from there. That makes for a lovely day, and in my experience even in bad weather, it somehow cleared right along the coast. The boat to Garnish island is right across the hotel, and they take their time and slow down to take close up shots of the seals on the way. And there's nice knitwear shops :). Bantry is nearby too.

edit : incidentally if I may slightly hijack the thread, I'm looking for a nice spot to go on my own myself to take pics or shop (love going on my own !), so I'll keep an eye on your thread Kintaro.

Ticks all the boxes - be as lazy or as active as you like. Amazing spa. Amazing solitude and scenery. Great food. She could stay longer and spa away the week.

Doolin in County Clare: Visit the nearby Cliffs of Moher or Ailwee Caves, go driving/walking through the Burren, enjoy some great trad music in the famous O'Connors pub, take a 30 min ferry to the Aran Islands, take surfing lessons in Lahinch, the list goes on
