Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

power cut

I have a handful of candles and a smart phone. I just took a spin and the power seems to be out for a few miles around. I met the fire brigade heading the other way on the road. There may have been an accident.
Reading by candle light isn't so romantic, it's a shadowy affair.
    No power in laptop.
I remember this was cool when I was a kid. Now it's just kind of stupid, and dark. Pretty dark.

Galway county and not a towny. Just unprepared then?
I'm not really a going to bed type. Not remotely tired. Chilling out with neighbours cat in the kitchen.
I'm sitting here thinking that technology has ruined us. With no distractions I could really see myself achieve more in life. I'm thinking this while I play with my smart phone. :P

If you stick your fingers in a socket and jump up and down really really really hard you should generate enough leccy to run a light or two.

The first thing I did. Clearly some kind of emp device that detonated near by. I settled for lighting those candles I have instead.

    Poor Galway

    Poor water
    Airport shut down, gone bust
    No ESB
Fidelma Healy Eames making a laugh out of ye
    Terrible at GAA
City business is quiet as the students are gone

Bad time to be a Galwegian :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,199 ✭✭✭Shryke

Mike you obviously didn't see us beat kilkenny to win the Leinster cup.
Water from or own well and that lark.

I was considering using the gas cooker to heat water for tea but I have my feet up and the cat has gone to sleep on my legs. Bit of a growl coming off her. I'm still thinking about it.

Shryke's hard wired into here. None of your Cat5e crap, fiberO all the way. With a UPS, naturally. Or else he's got a smart phone with one bar of battery left.

You know what I love about powercuts? The fact that the whole street, town or surrounding area/whatever goes pitch black. Its really eerie and spooky.
also my house alarm has a tendency to make demonic death noises when the power cuts.

Of all the places to make your 3,000th post, surely Aertel in the dark would have been the last place you were expecting.

You near Loughrea? I hear there's a power cut there. I wouldn't bet on it being fixed any time soon,; probably hard to get a (sober) crew on a bank holiday weekend.
