I've a six meter by four meter plot to cover in paving slabs.

How much paving sand would i need for the area roughly?

    A tonne or two?

    Cheers

depending on the dept...3 tons. A paving centre will tell you but for 32 sqm by 2" dept with a fall off 1" over 4 meters width I used 5 tons.

Mix a little cement with the sand to keep it from moving.

This was said to me as well. But instead i went with paving sand and used a dry mix. This was suggested by the paving provider. My paving is 80mm thick so it can take a beating. It allows me take up the paving later with no problems.

Was this advice wrong? Just out of curiosity.

Mixing a little cement 15/1 will stabilise the sand and prevent movement.
