Wow, I paid €30 for the 8Gb 2 weeks ago. Real bargain there.

Sorry for the silly question: Why did you need the BT1 1AA trick? I'm almost being redirected to Paypal and everything worked with my real postcode :?

EDIT: With the voucher code VCSUMMER12 you save a 5%, a bit more than €1 if you order 2 memories hehe

    Thanks!

You have the option to add a new address in Paypal, enter your Irish address but using the postcode BT1 1AA and Uk as country. That way you get free delivery :)

Cool, now I know the trick for the next time. The delivery was cheap anyway, around 2 quids.

Thanks again for the bargain alert :)

Slightly cheaper on Amazon, less than €14.50.. Picked one up a few days ago.

I think the OPs point is that the advertised speed is 45MB/s, so he's not getting close.

Advertised is 45MB optimal with 10MB minimum expected performance.

You'll only get the optimal if the card is close to empty and you have only one really big file to transfer. It's not a faulty card, it's just how flash memory works.

From a customer's perspective, think of it as the memory card's version of dynamic contrast ratios for televisions. You'll never get the crazy number advertised, mostly as the marketer who wrote the ad doesn't understand what the words really mean.

As regards the speeds, people are discussing, the faster speeds are necessary for 'High speed' camera use(write to flash), eg sport/action shots.

If camera manufacturers have decent in built memory which can act
as a sufficient buffer, then memory card speeds should be less of a factor.
The same way it has worked out with PC. Eg Hard drives for video use
are considered suitable at spindle speed up to 7200rpm, and data transfare of up to 6GB/s(eSata).
