Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Painting my frame

So project VT500 is moving along slowly but surely. Myself and my mate are going halves on it all. This is by no means a concours restoration. We're just really using the project as a tool to educate ourselves about how bikes go together.

We're now at the stage where the frame is fully stripped, keyed and primed. We were going to do rattle can black and clear over this. Having done lots of bits such as the stands and various bits of black metalwork in smooth black aerosol Hammerite, I started to think that smooth Hammerite might be a goer for the frame too? I'm starting to think that it would give us the most durable finish of all and I'm handy enough with painting that I'd get an acceptable finish for this project.

The problem is that the frame is fully primed at this stage and I'm wondering if the hammerite, which is I think intended for use on bare metal only, likely to interfere with the Hammerite?

    Any other advice?

can spray a small section, and see if theres any reaction

I believe on the can itself, it says theres a special metals primer to be used if spraying direct to aluminium (and a few other treated metals I think), so it can be used on a primer, but not sure if its picky...

    tis great stuff though :)

Tbh, last time I did one, I used black tractor enamel. You can paint or spray it, and it's a tough paint when dry, not prone to chipping...

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
