It's kinda like people wearing headphones while driving. Why do they do that when they have a radio?

I would say a big majority of those people are actually using the headphones as their hands free kit

I see people the odd time driving with their hoods up. I would have thought it would obscure you peripheral vision, and therefore be less safe.

If you are in an enclosed environment, like a car, why would you need to wear your hood up? Broken heater maybe?

I'de wear my hood up sometimes if driving early in a cold morning, while waiting for the heater to heat up, I have never found it to inpaire my view or hearing or driving.

    *loads shotgun*

You can put that shotgun away unless we're in the spelling, grammar and corrective phrases section.

It's just one of those "common" things people say incorrectly, which has crept into our dialect, but obviously not yours. If it helps, it actually annoys me too, but not enough to bother editing my post

I heard that people who wear hoodies have thier sisters panties underneath and that's why they won't pull them down.

Hoodies were never actually designed to be worn to keep your head warm / dry. They were designed as a fashion accesory to make a 'sweater' look cool. FOR THE MOST PART those who wear hoodies with the hood actually up are scroates, and it's also a fcukin stupid thing to do whilst driving as it impares your hearing, periphial (sp?) vision and makes you look like a dirtbag.

Sure how would it impair your vision if you only looked straight ahead?
God forbid having to check the blind spot in your mirrors by actually looking over your shoulder or is that not part of driving in these modern times.

    OK. Let's move s l o w l y here.

If you wear a hoodie, with the hood up, your straight ahead vision is not obstructed in any way. However, it does block a portion of your side (peripheral) vision. Peripheral vision comes in very handy, as it helps you with an awareness of what is to either side of you/your car.

If you have ever taken a driving lesson, you will know that it is also sometimes necessary to look over your shoulder to check your blind spot. Most hoodies will obscure your view as you try to look behind, because one usually relies on the wonderful ability of the eyes to move in their sockets, which would actually be blocked by the hood.

If you do not wear a hoodie "up" while driving, you will automatically have a better field of vision. So....this ultimately means that a hoodie with the hood up, is in fact something, which obscures the wearers/drivers vision.

Plus, they make you look like a scumbag junkie and ripe for the cops to pull you in.

Does anyone here think they would pass their driving test while wearing a hoodie with the hood up?

    There's your answer right there.

I would definitely say wearing a hood obscures vision. I've never done it in a car but as an owner of a tractor without a cab, in cold weather I will often put up the hood on my coat and then feel as if I can't actually see anything apart from straight ahead and that looking over my shoulder becomes nearly impossible.

If your heater is on the blink, put on a woolly hat. It won't obscure vision.

I'm quite capable of realising I have a hood up without using a mirror.

Talk about a typical motors thread, you have to possess little intelligence to create and reply to a thread

Yeah, it shows. I mean come on, who doesn't know what a blind spot is?
    Mirrors can't see everywhere.
