Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cover Letter for PDE Teacher Placement

    Hi all,

I've been accepted into Hibernia's PDE programme and I'm due to start in October of this year? I'm just wondering if it's difficult to find teaching practice placement and what's the best way to go about looking for it? I'm thinking of sending letters to the principals of the school I attended and some other local schools. Is this the best thing to do or is e-mail more appropriate these days? What should I include in the letter and is a C.V. required?

I'd appreciate any advice anyone has to offer or if anyone has any recent experience of this I'd love to know how they got on.

    Cheers :)

I did my PGDE in UCC in 2010/2011. I just rang schools. The secretary seemed to be aware of the situation as most schools were taking on several dips and just gave me a slot for interview. That was in the March/April prior though, when I got accepted. It may be different with Hibernia, though, especially of you're doing block in schools that aren't near universities i.e. one that usually accepts dips. I'd be inclined to ring the school and ask if I were you.

Ring and ask, easier for all. Though be prepared for some schools not wanting hibernia as they require a staff member to do a tutorial online on mentoring and its block release so not as attractive as year long tp.

    Hi,

Congrats on being accepted. I was just wondering how difficult did you find it getting accepted? I am planning on applying for the March cohort but worried my 2.2 grade won't be enough, I had great grades each year in college with a 1st and a 2.1 but unfortunately the final year was a 2.2, and I also have no teaching experience! Looking at the PAC website I have no chance of getting accepted through them with that point system :(

hey, you'll get in no problem. I had no chance through PAC either. I only got a 3rd in my degree and have no teaching experience. I think once you have a degree and present yourself well in the interview you'll get in no problem. :)
