I'm currently renting a room in a house share and my lease expired about two months ago. I have already paid my rent for this month but just found out that I may need to move in a few weeks. How much notice am I required to give? If I want to move out straight away how do I need to handle things?

If your lease has expired and no new lease was signed, then you probably have a Part 4 tenancy. Your written notice period is determined by how long you have been in the property:
    Less than 6 months - 28 days.
6 or more months but less than 1 year - 35 days.
1 year or more but less than 2 years - 42 days.
    2 or more years - 56 days.

Please note, the above notice periods only apply to a Part 4 tenancy and does not apply to a fixed term lease which cannot be broken by just giving notice.

Generally speaking a month from when you notify your LandLord.
If you manage to find tenants for them, then you may be able to expedite your departure.
