    The sooner these creatures cease to exist the better for humanity. Sounds like she would have liked to have had a 'Christian' version of Sharia law (Afghanistan style) in operation here in Ireland.

    What disturbs me is the followers these people seem to attract like shit to an unsheared sheep's arse. The only reason people like this aren't automatically deemed clinically insane is because the invoke the name of god(s) and get their very own get-out-of-secure-psychiatric-facility free pass.

    The shocker, as is usual with these crack pots, is that conservative catholics seem to lack any traces of the christian values they preach. Actively aiding a sick fúck of a mother to hold on to and torture her kids for another 4 years to protect the "sanctity" of the family is not just wrong, it's disgusting and morally indefensible. As the great Mahatma Gandhi once said "I like your christ, but i dislike your christians, they are so unlike your christ"

    She actually wasn't. Mixing her up came later. Problem being at the time in Palestine every second woman was a Mary or Miriam. A tad confusing. The one he saves from the stoning was a Mary, but it's not Magdalene, contrary to what the movies tell us. Though she's famous today, she's actually not mentioned in the texts before the crucifixion(I think one mention before, but a short one).

    These uber Catholics were pretty common when I was a kid in the 70's. Nearly always women which I find ironic. Clearly strong willed and dedicated women who were strong willed and dedicated to reducing their standing in society. Like if American blacks in the 1850's were campaigning in support of slavery. Odd and not a little daft.

    But yea I knew lots of these as a kid. Of my Catholic mates, most of their mums were pretty full on and the ones who weren't were quietly observant. Only one dad was similar I recall. Actually he was worse. Real ranter on the subject. Saw the devil everywhere.

    It's amazing how quickly, or relatively quickly that stuff switched off. The last real mass exposition was the oul moving statues dealio. Many thousands were showing up to that stuff. Looking back I reckon it had a touch of the death rattle of narrow minded 50's Ireland to it.

    On topic, yes that woman is everything wrong in the world. People like her make me feel genuinely sad; so full of hate and bitterness.

    I'd agree with a previous poster who said, while they could understand why people were against abortion (I'm not, but I get the idea), why would anyone be against divorce? I was a kid when the referendum happened-my parents were waiting for it to come through to get their divorce- and even then I didn't understand the debate.

    Youth Defence are just the second coming of this evil aul bat.

    Yea kinda :D It was just as much a populist mistake as well as the church simplifying things for the proles. Even uberCath Mel Gibson got it wrong in the gore porn that was the Passion of the Christ. Has the actors speaking accurate languages of the time, but has Magdela as a whoer.

    Make no mistake, though the slavish and overt Catholic Taliban of old Ireland* is gone, there is most definitely an undercurrent of the hardliners still out there just under the surface.





    * and god did we have about the most dour, nay puritan version of Catholicism here. Grey and damp and bloodless with lowed voices of women polishing beads and their own bitterness. I remember watching a procession of the host thing winding it's way through suburban Dublin and comparing it to a similar event in Spain. Chalk and effing cheese. Your latins at least live it up a bit.

    Mena died this week. Una hasn't, as far as I know.

    There may be some confusion as they were close friends, had very similar politics and were both featured on the Come Here To Me! blog recently.
