Sleeping Mat

Any recomendations...I have have been using blow up matress on family camping trips/festivals etc which just is not sufficent especialy at 0300 after the air has half disappeared. Add to that the aches, pains, and just general bad sleep.

I need something that will take my 16 stone frame, is reletively compact and and needs minimum inflating .

I got this one in Millet's on Mary Street in Dublin recently for €20. Just back from 2 weeks camping on it - I'm not much lighter than you and I found it very comfortable. My only criticism is that it's a little narrow. They had a wider one for maybe another tenner iirc.

Exped down filled mats are not cheap but very comfortable and warm

I have an Exped SynMat with integrated pump - it's fantastic. I've used it for camping and kipping out at a mates gaff after a session (having driven there). Always kept me warm, and unless you go camping in winter/snow then the DownMat is actually heavier and more expensive than it's worth. I'd say I've spent 100+ nights on it, and apart from food and drink stains (eating in a tent in the rain!) it's held up brilliantly.

All the Exped mats are expensive, but they are most definitely worth it!
