Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Read Sartre and smoke. It won't matter if you are cross eyed. You may have some angst.

Your breathing right now. Which is doing something i.e. keeping you alive.

There is no point to life. You can't "win" at it. The great nothing gets us all in the end. Life IS a trivial waste of time.

First they came for the socialists...

Does anyone wonder if God created the Universe then who created him?

What was there before he existed?

Gives me a scared feeling in my stomach to think of this. And sometimes a feeling of what's the point.................

Mayonnaise. Before the current universe, everything was just mayonnaise.

The key is to convince yourself that there is, even if you don't really believe it. That's life, its one long soul destroying grind which takes a lot of effort to endure. Hence only the strong prosper.

Seriously, there is no point, how could there be? Just enjoy your three score years and ten and try not to f*ck up anyone else's.

    Nah, Read Kierkegaarde
''I do not care for anything. I do not care to ride, for the exercise is too violent. I do not care to walk, walking is too strenuous. I do not care to lie down, for I should either have to remain lying, and I do not care to do that, or I should have to get up again, and I do not care to do that either. Summa summarum: I do not care at all.''

and he was the first existentialist

Realise that the only meaning to life is something you create yourself. Sometimes the human struggle against such utter pointlessness is the only thing that carries meaning.

If you want to be analytical about it the only logical conclusion is that we should all kill ourselves. In addition to there being no point to the daily struggle, beyond the struggle itself, you have to consider the fact that every experience, memory and element of your personality is erased upon brain death. So given enough of a time frame how you lived your life, or what type of person you were, ceases to carry any importance.

Have a nice day, if you want me I'll be in a paddling pool full of kittens.

Sometimes I try to imagine what the universe would be like if there was nothing. If there was no universe. It's hard. It's also scary. I don't think I can handle it.

I always turn to Mr Noel Gallagher.
    You can't find the feeling
All is the same in the pouring rain, y'know, y'know
    Coming out of the ceiling
Falling from above, growing in and out of love

A broken heart is still beating
In and out of time, hold your body next to mine, y'know, y'know
But you can't stop the bleeding
Sing to yourself and hold on

'Cos everybody's on the run, everybody's on the run

Hang in there love, you gotta hold on
Hang in there love, you gotta hold on

'Cos everybody's on the run, everbody's on the run
Everybody's on the run, everybody's on the run

    You've been drifting and stealing
Trying to walk in my shoes, but they don't belong to you, no they don't
But you can't find the meaning
Sing to yourself and hold on

'Cos everybody's on the run, everybody's on the run

lets presume that once you die, That is it. No more. there is no god. There is no afterlife. Ect

You have 80ish years of existance and that is it. No more. You have a limited time.

    Is there a point?
My answer is, there is no point if you cant see a point.

I want to see the world. Experience loads of different cultures. Get my degree to prove to myself that i can. I want to climb mount everest (well ok. Maby just to base camp). I want to find someone that i can share these experiences with. I want to go out to that house party tommorow night to catch up with friends that i havent seen in ages. I want to go skydiving. Live in a monestry for a year. Travel on one of them international volenteer missions. There is so much that i want to experience while here.

Is there a point. That is a matter of perception. Do you see a point?

If you dont see a point you should really spend some time thinking about that you want from life. what you what to do before you die. Go for a long walk and think. No one else can tell you what you want from your existance.

Question: If i told you that you could do something, but you knew in advance that you could not fail in doing this something, and money or time wasn't an issue, What would you do?

Why does there need to be a point to life?

Just have fun and enjoy yourself.

Yes exactly. Questioning your own existence or examining your core beliefs is just plain boring.

All those silly philosophers just weren't having fun. They should have just accepted that you should never question anything & gone out on the beer.
