Avox and Infamous Larry, hello! Good to see there are actually some other people here in Parchment Square at the moment. I'm up here in Joyce, a solitary view across to the campus, forever alone :D

I'm not there anymore :o haha home for the weekend for my mother's birthday party, back up Monday morning though! :D Many around now?

Not really, no. It's not so much a steady trickle of students as it's an occasional drip :) I think most of my building is still practically empty right now, from what I can tell. I'm savouring the quietness, I'll tell ya that much.

The quietness drove me insane, I'd much rather it to be loud. :P Hopefully by Sunday/Monday when I come back my housemates will be there.. they should be anyway considering registration is next week. :D

I'm hoping the same here. That way there'll be more people to hold the food shopping and bear witness to my terrible, terrible cooking.

EDIT: Oh, and a little more on topic with this thread, I'm going into the first year of Multimedia after two years spent in a FETAC college, from which I got double the points than what I got in the Leaving Cert. Attempted to get into Year 2, but obviously I wasn't that up to snuff. Still, should be good.

Yeah, I've gone home for the weekend as well, probably for most of the week actually, my registration isn't until next friday. I'm in the front of the Kavanagh building, up and across from the reception, so there's never any shortage of things to look out the kitchen window at :D The quietness was good though, definitely something to be enjoyed from how loud I've heard the full buildings can get!

I'm registering Tuesday so gonna head back Monday.. hopefully there'll be a few sessions this week :D I'm front of Kavanagh, ground floor staring right out into the street light things and the courtyard.. To say if you were afraid of the dark, it'd be the perfect room for you is an understatement :p

A good session is definitely in order sometime soon I think! I may go back up on Tuesday or Wednesday though, depending on how bored I am at home :P That room situation doesn't sound too great, mine's decent actually, pretty dark at night, which is the main thing...

A drink or two would not go amiss, I must say :D

Registration is on Wednesday for me, which is kinda why I'm still up here (alone!). My room feels incredibly remote compared to the rest of the place. Weird corner out the back and up at the top of the Joyce building. It's overlooking the Rubicon Centre, who's dark walls have begun to take on a sinister aspect in my fevered mind....

I'm knackered spent all day looking for all my stuff! D:
Moving tomorrow... So excited! Aha. I hope I've packed everything. Cos it's not like I can go back to my town and get it! A 9 hour bus journey to collect a piece of paper and some toothpaste would just be awful! :)

Just moved in. It's really nice, but my flat mates have gone home. :( Forever alone... On the ground floor, other than that it's busier than I thought it'd be. :D

Somewhere else, Deanshall... I went to the shops and came back and the door wouldn't let me in, so then I stupidly thought I'd got my block wrong and started trying the neighbours' doors... I'm such an idiot, :D I felt like I was being watched constantly. :(

Those flighty housemates... mine still haven't turned up. I feel like a might go a bit stir-crazy if I don't socialise with another human being beyond paying them money to let me on the bus or take food home from the supermarket :D

    Soon. Soon...

EDIT: I managed to do something similar, but I was still in the apartment, locked myself out of my room. Had to go down to the front desk without any shoes on to get another key card. Won't be doing that again :)

LOL! Awkward :D I'm on the ground floor so I pulled my curtains so everyone won't just be staring in at me.. so awkward :o

Last time I visited Parchment was for a friend's birthday party (read: beer and pizza until 7 in the morning)*, and the apartment we were in was on the ground floor and by the entrance to that building (not Kavanagh, somewhere else. Not sure which it was, might have been those ones up behind Kavanagh). I was seriously surprised that we weren't called out on all the loud conversation, laughter and Top Gun that must have been filling that little avenue between the buildings.

I was being given an unofficial tour of the place by my friend who already studies here (same friend as who's birthday it was, incidentally), and we bumped into the guy who'll be MCing for a bit. He said there were activities, but I can't remember the details...

*When I was reading over the rules for Parchment Square, I realised just how many we broke on just that one night. Party, check. Loud noises, check. Smoking inside, check (it was out of the window, but still). Guests after 11 (well after 11), check.

17th for us, 24th for UCC no?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13 Calumshmalum

I know that semester starts on the 17th here at CIT, for first year students, so I'd say Avox is correct. We shall see, I suppose.

Just popped in to get my fob thing, The apartment is lovely! jesus i wasn't expecting it to have so much ... in it? if that makes sense! I got the duluxe room so there's plenty of space and it's very clean! ( love the fact you get your own bathroom! ).
    Sorry I only read this now so never asked about the guest thing, i'm wondering myself, as they said on the actual site that you are able to have people stay, but then on the form they send out after payment they said strictly no people allowed over, kinda unfair as it's after you pay? ( - . - );

Haha better to ask and feel stupid than to leave it go and never know?! :D

Which apartment are you d'you mind me asking? I don't know anyone here aside from my 1 flatmate... D:

Because UCC starts on the 24th and CIT starts on the 17th.. They join them together for Freshers week so the big bash is even bigger and celebrated by the 2 colleges :D
