Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Problems Restoring iPhone 3GS

    Hi all,

I am trying to restore an iPhone 3GS for a friend, but I am having great difficulty doing so.

A few days ago his phone was telling him to "connect to iTunes", where after doing so it then told me to restore it, however, after many attempts to restore it, it kept failing 3/4 way in, with a range of error codes. I finally got it restored by using a custom IPSW and iREB, however, now, after I select the phone language and Region, it again says to "connect to iTunes", where nothing happens for about 2-3 mins (iPhone appears in the left of iTunes, but its greyed out with a spinning wheel beside it), then the phone restarts and the loop begins again to select language/region.

EDIT: I put a pre-activated IPSW, which got me past the loop, but now it looks like the phone is bricked, No mobile carrier/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, which is somewhat similar to the phone before I wiped it (apart from Wi-Fi and bluetooth), i.e. I couldn't get the IEMI.

I have restored/repaired many iPhones, but I cannot seem to get this working at all.

If anyone would be able to give me advice as to what to do I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

Probably the pre-prepared IPSW was for a different baseband so its basically like you're locked to vodafone and have a Meteor sim.
You need to make an IPSW from the last working one using redsn0w.

Are you sure you can't connect to wifi? That part I can't explain.

remove the battery for 30minutes then restore;)
supposedly it clears the nand memory, has worked for me in the past with a phone with missing imei issues.
