    Hi guys,

Finally have some money towards a pc. I will be using this PC for gaming, video recording/editing and software development. I have put together a spec and was hoping that ye could have a look and highlight any improvements. I've gone over my budget (€1000) but might be able to push it if needs. I'd rather not but if its a must then I will.

I need this PC to last for a while as I won't be able to upgrade for a bit.

    Spec:

    Samsung SH-223C bare schwarz SATA - €20.88
    8GB-Kit Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1333 CL9 - €41.98
    EVGA GeForce GTX 670, 2048MB DDR5, PCI-Express - €377.98
    Intel Core i5-3570K Box, LGA1155 - €219.38
    BitFenix Shinobi Midi-Tower GERMANY Edition - €63.00
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 800W - €87.99
    ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3, Sockel 1155, ATX - €87.14
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s - €78.76
    Samsung SSD 830 128GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box - €101.47
    Total - €1098.58

You could wait a week or two. The 660ti should be released quite soon.

You don't need an 800W PSU. 550W is plenty. That's with overclocking as well.

Cheers, I replaced the PSU and saved a few euro.

Another HDD and set up RAID 0 for video editing perhaps.

I don't see a decent cooler in there either.

    +1 on the 660ti

U can add Mirillis Action 29.95$ for video, game, audio recording. And before try trial version if it fits for You. It's not so known as fraps but it's way more better. Good luck man!

After scouring down through other threads I've decided to go with the Thermalright HR-02 Macho. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    So I've changed this to:

    Samsung SH-222BB schwarz - €16.65

    EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW, 2048MB DDR5, PCI-Express - €395.59

    Super-Flower Atlas Design 680W - €80.99
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4, Sockel 1155, ATX - €135.44
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s - €77.42
    Samsung SSD 830 128GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box - €100.80
    Thermalright HR-02 Macho - €36.81
    Total - €1180.73

I will have the money in 2 weeks time and just want confirmation that I'm heading in the right direction to move to PC gaming???

If you plan on getting a second GTX 670 in the future, then you'll probably need a better power supply, 700W min is recommended. If you dont intend on ever going SLI then you could probably drop the mobo down to the Z77 Pro4 and drop the PSU to a 500W.

Also the heatspreaders on that memory are huge, they'll likely get in to the way of the HR-02 Macho. Look for memory with a lower profile.

Also you'll need a third SATA cable (two are supplied), and that case only comes with a rear fan, might be worth picking up a 120mm fan for the front.

Ok I'll change the memory for low profile instead. I'm looking into a different case and I'm still not sure whether or not I'll be going down the sli route but I do want a motherboard that will last for awhile as I won't be able to upgrade for ages.

Forget the Atlas model of PSU. Go for the amazon lineup instead which are of better quality. If you really need modularity, I'll take a look at what else is available.

Edit: About the hard drive, the new 1TB WD Blue hard drive (the WD10EZEX) for €79.90 looks a good buy.

Warranty is 2 years vs Seagate's 1 year and sequesntial speeds are good. Access times are a bit high as WD has had some of the best in recent years.

The fan I was ordering has been discontinued, can anyone recommend a replacement fan? Cheers guys. I'm ordering this month GUARANTEED :D.

Maybe you should check back a few days before you order. There's new graphics cards coming out soon - below your budget but they might shake around things a bit.
