2014 Ring of North Kerry Cycle is set for the 9th Aug

The 4th Ring of North Kerry Cycle will take place on Saturday the 9th of August.

As in previous years there will be two routes; the short 70 km route and the full RoNK at
120km. Both routes begin and finish at Finuge.

The event starts and finishes at Finuge GAA grounds with free parking on the pitch and in
the locality. Light refreshments will be available on the morning. Note: Registration will
take place from 7.30 to 9.20 on the morning.

There will be a group start at 9.30 sharp.

The routes take cyclists from Finuge to Listowel and onto Tarbert. From there cyclists travel
to Ballylongford and Asdee before hitting the first climb of the day at Beal Hill. Ballybunion
awaits with first food stop of the day at the Community Centre. The road then leads on
towards Ballyduff where our two routes diverge.

Cyclists taking the 70km route will branch off to the left after the Ferry Bridge. They will
then travel on the Ladies Walk Road to Ballynagare Bridge, Lixnaw and home to a warm
    welcome in Finuge.

Those taking the 120km route travel on through Ballyduff and onto the scenic North Road.
The road takes them along to the base of Kerry Head which is the major climb of the day.
Once this testing climb is completed cyclists descend into Ballyheigue for the second food
stop. Refreshed riders, thanks to goodies supplied by GLENISK still have a bit of work to do .
We climb out of Ballyheigue and onto Causeway village. Turning for home the two routes
join up once more at Ballynagare Bridge. From here it’s flat, fast and easy all the way home
    to Finuge.

Full medical and mechanical back up will be provided on the day with the support of
KINGDOM ENDURANCE SPORTS. Cyclists will be issued with a contact number in case of
    medical emergency or mechanical breakdown.

Our event is growing every year and we pride ourselves on the warm welcome
and fun atmosphere on the day. The North Kerry area is largely an undiscovered jewel with
scenery to rival anywhere. Come along and feast your eyes and make friends along the
way. Don’t forget there will be a full after cycle party where cyclists can socialise and
recount their day and party ‘til the early hours.

Registration and further details are on www.ring-of-north-kerry-cycle.com

Hi... is this 'fast'???? As in - is this more of a 'CLUBS' day out with a fast pace. Am averaging 21-23km myself...so am worrined that I be left behind.

Also - is there much climbing?? Versus say Molls Gap as a comparison??

You won't get left behind. We started a couch to 70km program at the start of the year and they got around the ring of kerry fine. They are doing the 120km route and would be averaging the same as yourself I would guess.

There would be nothing like Molls Gap or coomakista but there would be a lot of rolling hills along the way.
