Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Before or after you've washed out the blood and semen?

On a serious note. Maybe try a stain devil or one of them vanish products.

Draw white board marker over the permanent marker stain and then rub with a dry cloth.

Duh, colour the rest of the mattress in with marker. Bonus is no stains will be visible too :D

    Might try vanish.

Would this get it out of the sheet, too? I was told to try nail polish remover but I just had the pads and that just got more ink everywhere..

Colour the whole bed in black marker and you won't see it

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,597 ✭✭✭dan1895

Its a mattress. Put a sheet on it and forget about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 277 ✭✭Blue_Seas

It's been like this for about 2 weeks, will that affect whether it can be cleaned or not?

    Repeated ****.

How will that solve my mattress/sheet problem?

The mattress is yellow. The sheets are pale. The marker is black.

Can you turn the mattress upside down.

If not white spirit would remove it.

Unfortunately for you the answer is in the question, "permanent marker", it doesn't come off at all. Heard Aggie from "how clean is your home" on with ray D'Arcy one day and she said nothing will get it off. Sorry:-((

So I ruined a set of sheets and my mattress?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭Amalgam

Isopropyl Alcohol works if the surface isn't too porous\absorbent. Sadly, a matress is just that..

Try a magic marker? or as suggested a white board marker and cloth? failing that fire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,566 ✭✭✭Funglegunk

What colour was the marker? Red or brown?

  • Registered Users Posts: 277 ✭✭Blue_Seas

I don't know the brand, it could still be somewhere in the house. It's a black colour but when I tried to get it off, it stained a bit blue.

Have you not even heard of sheets??? They cover a multitude of, ahem, indiscretions.
Or do you prefer the bare matress to be visible? Is it on the floor of a drugs den?

Also don't forget Juan: one sheet does plenty!

Eh. Not bothered. Just want the stains gone.

I'll try vanish.. not sure exactly how white board marker will work to lift it off...

    ok.

if it was a kid's marker or an arty-type marker - copious soapy water sponged back off instantly with a towel.

if it was chunky black chisel tip type one, same deal with isopropyl alcohol

if you go into All City in temple bar they sell a spray solvent by Montana.

i could be more specific if I knew what the marker was

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭KKkitty

Try hair spray and a bit of elbow grease.

Chunky marker, but amalgam said "Isopropyl Alcohol works if the surface isn't too porous\absorbent. Sadly, a matress is just that.." so guess I'm screwed

you can kind of irrigate and immediately remove the isopropyl alcohol with a towel. as long as it doesn't penetrate too deeply, the alcohol will evaporate pretty fast if there is only a small amount left behind.

    patch test obviously

  • Registered Users Posts: 277 ✭✭Blue_Seas

Yeah I'm not going to possibly ruin my mattress because of a marker stain... knowing me it will go wrong.

Thanks for the help though. Guess I'll try vanish
