Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just seen the Tom Daley interview/reaction. Genuinaly happy. The boy has become a man.

Tom Daley's coach told him earlier in the year that he was too fat, so he lost 7kg.

I think you answered your question:) The girl in the pentathlon might do well but shouldn't medal.

Oh my word this time tomorrow it's finished. Don't know what to say really, "sure there's always 4 years" but there really isn't, there will never EVER be a games like this. Feel priviledged to have seen it and my only regret is I didn't get to experience any of it first hand.

I'll come up with my personal highlights tomorrow ha!

I reckon it isn't all over yet.

I think Channel 4 are going to do a top job covering the Paralympics

Apparently athletes who get bronze are more content than athletes who get silver. Silver medallists tend to focus on the gold that could have been, whereas bronze winners look back at those behind them who got nothing and feel relief not be in that position.

Have you a source for that?

And am looking forward to it. No worries about a Red Button either.

Channel 4 red button being launched next sunday just in time for the paralympics I hear, great to have the old sky plus ;)

Russian national anthem is class :D

Absolutely. Was the original Communist anthem, got dropped under Yeltsin, and subsequently restored by Putin, when it dawned on him that totalitarianism and a cute national musical identifier was probably the way to go.

My thoughts exactly. I think I might cry a little during the closing ceremony :o

Rio's just not going to be the same. It'll be around 1.30/2am here around the time of the 100m/200m races.

I hope that plonker Sepp Blatter has serious regrets looking at London as a great host city and giving the world cup to bloody Russia instead

Outdoor sports and adventure sports are part and parcel of NZ culture. We won't be able to match it. It's like saying there's no reason we can't be as good as NZ in rugby. It's a cultural block that will prevent us ever reaching that level. All of New Zealand's 5 golds have come on the water. Auckland has more boats than anywhere else in the world per capita.

Rowing and sprint kayaking are not adventure sports. And we have the infrastructure for both. Only thing lacking is the management

Think it'd be nice for everyone to post highlights and lowlights of the games here tomorrow. Was quite an incredible event. We shall see what happens sure!

Phew that sixteen days flew by and I loved every minute of it. It was great games and definately the best olympic games I have ever witnessed, and I can remember quite a few :) the athletics, swimming, rowing, sailing, cycling, boxing, etc was all great. Thank God there were no scares, no trouble, no security issues either, possibly thanks to the army making an appearance. Really loking forward to the closing ceremony too . . .

Closing ceremony, in no particular order, just some of the line-up.

    Spice Girls
    George Michael
    The Who
    Madness
    Kate Bush
    Tinie Tempah
    One Direction
    Coldplay
    Muse
    Queen
    Annie Lennox
    Kaiser Chiefs
    Jessie J
    Elbow

Then the twenty minute fireworks display to finish, nice :D

the Kaiser Chiefs? They're a weird choice, are they even that famous?

Funnily enough one of their songs is called "I predict a riot" - doesn't bode well for the closing ceremony...

I remember when they played Marlay Park with a few other bands in 2007, the lead singer's mic didn't work. Good times.
