Sourcing slate hearth

I'm looking for a nice piece of slate for a hearth as I'm putting a stove into a disused fireplace, but I can't really find what I'm looking for. Roughly 950 x 700 x 20, with a riven natural finish.

Have a couple of quotes from quarries in Wales but they are seriously pricey. Are there any quarries still operating in Ireland? Would like to keep my stone miles down to a minimum.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Dunno where you can source slate, but limestone is easily available.I was doing a hearth recently and was looking at the flagstones at Roadstone[Castlebar]. They have 900x600 at about 22mm thick in limestone for about 15 euro. I went for three pieces of silver granite 600x300x30 [19 euro]and butted them together as they had perfectly cut, square edges and were uniform in thickness.I also thought that 30mm looked better {more in proportion]than 20mm as an edging detalI - I was also overhanging the stones by 15 mm [making sweeping hearth into dustpan easier].
