[Aug 19] UCD August Air Open 2012

UCD Rifle Club is pleased to announce that we will hold the UCD August Air Open 2012, on Sunday 19th of August 2012 at UCD Rifle Club Range, UCD, Belfield.

This is an open competition for 10 metre Air Rifle and Air Pistol.

Competitions:

• Air Rifle 60 shot
• Air Rifle 40 shot
• Air Pistol 60 shot

Class prizes will also be awarded (based on the first 40 competition shots).

Entry fee: €15 (€10 students/juniors)

Pre-booking is essential.

Dependent on numbers, a 'fun' final will take place after the Sunday 12:30 detail, the scores from the final will not be included in the overall or class prizes.

Many thanks to everyone who took part in the UCD August Air Open 2012 today in the UCD Rifle Club range. A total of 20 shooters took place over the two details and the fun final.

Castlebridge's John Kinsella won a tight pistol competition with a score of 528, 3 points above Fermoy's Joe Conroy in second and folowed by Rathdrum's Caroline O'Brien in third place.

In the 40 shot air rifle competition DURC's Aisling Miller took first place with a score of 387 followed by WTSC's Elizabeth O'Hagan in second place and UCD's Sarah Dillon in third.

In the 60 shot air rifle competition UCD did a 1-2-3 with John Lancaster taking first place with a score of 576, followed by Joe Thompson and Nicolas Nalpas.

That was a fun shoot and it was nice to see John Kinsella spank everyone in the pistol shooting with an IZH-46M



And the new lighting on the range is fantastic:



Makes an incredible difference to the shooting, it's like a whole new range now.

Good to see a lot of old faces returning after the Olympics got everyone thinking of shooting again - some who've been away since Intershoot, some for a lot longer than that And the high end of the scores is nicely healthy - Aisling hit a new PB and set a new club record. So a good day on the range all told
