Intel or AMD

Well i'm building a gaming pc but i don't know if i should go with intel or amd so i'm just asking like what's the big difference
What i need to know:
* Price
* performance
* and how easy is it to get parts to work with it ?

Price - For a given performance point AMD is more expensive - unless you are looking at the cheaper end.

Performance - APU = AMD - Discrete GPU = Intel

All parts are interchangeable - Intel change socket design more often than they change their pants but these days thats not really an issue. RAM + CPU + Mobo costs less than a decent video card.

At the moment - but Trinity could be a game changer. Even now of you're on a tight budget Llano is an option.

The Intel Core i5-3570K and i have €1,750 to spend and il be using it for gaming and just work stuff

LOL knew I missed something out - have a look at Monotypes guide - I'd probably go with something around 750w on that machine.

one question tho, why a 670 over a 680 when there's room left in the budget? =/

edit: also why have two ssd's? surely the one 256GB ssd would be well more then enough because most games don't benefit from them.

Honestly I think this would be your ideal build imo taken majority of the stuff from Procrastastudy's list because he was pretty much dead on with his hardware choice and Monotype's PSU choice, I just added the case you want over the 660T, replaced the 670 with a 680, took away the 128gb SSD and swapped the 2TB HDD for a 7200RPM one which is same cost and size anyway:

What i was thinking of doing was getting 2 256GB ssd and doing raid 0 with them for the OS drive and then having the 2tb for games and stuff

680 v 670 - almost no difference in performance. Why pay more for the same thing? You have to look at the fact the OP is doing fairly low res gaming. In fact 2x660ti in SLI might be a better solution. If you want an e-peen video card go for the 7970Ghz edition rather than a 680 imo.

SSDs in RAID - doesn't make much difference in performance - up until recently would have screwed the write performance over time. Still unproven tech.

2 separate SSDs would be the ideal set-up as one for system stuff and one for games - maximising the bandwidth of both. If the system drive is doing something during a game a separate drive for games will help. How much is debatable. There is also the 'buggering about' factor with the likes of steam if you run one SSD and start to struggle with space.

i beg to differ on the performance between 670 and 680 on performance as bf3 performs exceptionally well on 680's when your playing on ultra settings and im pretty sure its like wise on other high texture games.
also raid on ssd's is a bad idea as you'll loose trim support

The 680 is 5% better than the 670, ultra settings or not. As such, it's not worth the €100+ you'd spend on it, ever.

Nvidia cards have a smaller bus for memory making them poorer for ultra res gaming. To be fair it's a limitation few will ever be troubled with.

TRIM is available for RAID 0 in Windows 8 and I believe its also possible to retrofit this to Windows 7. As I say its yet to be fully proven. Still very little point in having RAID 0 SSDs imo.

ahh yes but the question is who in there right mind wants to upgrade to windows 8? =P

It is possible to get trim to support raid on 7 but it's a big pain in the as for next to no performance gain
