Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Job application form looking for exam results achieved by students

I received a job application form for some part time evening teaching work in a new grinds school.

One of the questions asked is for previous exam results obtained - this is a ridiclous question because of the range of ability across different students.

I've never come across this before - has anyone else?

Are they are looking for how many As, Bs etc? I'd say as long as your results are along the lines of national averages that's all they are after.

As for different levels of ability that should be straightforward to explain.

But I've never come across it. These grind schools are a pain in the backside.

I've seen this a few times in schools in the UK but never here. I suppose they just want in general how many As Bs etc

It's a grind school - they're only interested in results I'm not surprised by this. If you have had students get A1s that's the kind of stuff they are after.

As for the level of ability it will be the same in the grind school - some people think spending money will get them a good leaving regardless of ability, work-rate or past achievement.

    I know from experience.

They want to be able to say 'oh our teachers get xxxx results from their students', so that gullible parents will spend money for what they could get for free at the local school. Mammy or Daddy whacking out the thousands buys a whole lot of motivation.

It's good business for sure, but hardly education.
