Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Hulk is a close second though, but only certain incarnations like Planet Hulk

A billionaire is hardly normal. If he wasn't so rich, he wouldn't care about fighting crime, it's just because he can afford cool vehicles and gear. That's why Jim Gordon is far superior to Batman.

Jim Gordon, because he does the unglamorous, day-to-day work, is an all-round good guy with none of the advantages of most of the costumed heroes, and because...

Batman's not even a superhero, he has no super powers. He's a rich vigilante. Could he be described as heroic? How is he winning this poll?!!

Indeed, I also would have defined a superhero as distinct from a hero by his/her possession of superpowers. Batman is a hero.

I would've defined it as someone who goes beyond the aim of the hero, regardless if they possess superpowers or not. Someone who doesn't just do acts of heroics, but who rather embodies the meaning, the symbol behind the heroics

Lads, seriously disappointing lack of support for Daredevil. Did you know that he can tell if someone is lying by listening to their pulse? Huh? HUH?

And how would you suggest Batman (for example) defines that?

a pretty weak list it must be said, especially when your putting in the likes of jim gordon, antman and nick fury. batman has obviously gained a resurgence in popularity with the release of the christopher nolan films, but before that spider-man would have probably won this at a canter.

i went with spider-man. pretty much changed comics upon the release of the amazing spider-man. the superhero most people can relate too along with his alter-ego peter parker, and for the last few decades has been far and away the most popular super-hero because of that.

superman will always reign supreme as an icon and a symbol. THE superhero

In fairness, Antman and Gordon both got votes, so somebody obviously thinks they're the best.

    Batman.

Delighted to see him doing the best in the poll. Been a fan since the 80s.

Was never a fan of any of the Marvel stuff.
