    Quick question.

I got my licence this morning for a non restricted firearm. How long does it take (roughly) to get an importation licence back from the DOJ- firearm is currently is mainland Europe.

The ladies in the office that deals with them process on a Monday so get your application done today or tomorrow, and send it off by Friday.

Should have it by Thursday or Friday of next week. That's how quick i got my last one.

No need for a number. It's all done online. Here is what i done.

    Download the Importation form.

    Fill it in:
    • Date:
    • Name:
    • Address:
    • Telephone Number:
    • E-mail address:
    • Country:
    • Dealer/Private:
    • Full Name & address of business:

You fill out Part A for the personal importation of a firearm as follows:
    • A-D = Your firearm falls under category C.
    • Type = Rifle
    • Make/Model = Whatever it is.
    • Caliber = Whatever it is.
    • Characteristics: Whatever it is.
    • CIP Proof = Yes
    • Serial number = Whatever it is.
Additional information that will/may be required:
    • Your license for the firearm. Copy front and back.
    • EFP. European Firearms Pass.
    • Dealer's license (that you are importing from) Copy front and back.
    • Dealers PULSE ID that is getting rifle for you. (if you are going this route, but not necessary if you are collecting).

When done e-mail it along with all the necessary attached documents to the address at the top of the page or fax to the number also at the top of the importation page.

    Think that's everything.

Holy sweet biscuits. That's a serious amount of dosh.

Wish you the very best of luck with her. Can i ask though, what made you go for this over another cheaper, yet still expensive model of the same spec. Or even build one that suits again to the same spec?

    Thanks lads :)

Well firstly and most importantly its a Mauser. For me thats a bit like getting a Purdy shotgun or a Bentley.

But that gun will last me my lifetime. So when you think of it that way its not too bad. And all going well when I die my kids will get it, and then down to the grandkids etc. My own grandfather had a nice rifle (also a Mauser) that he was keeping for the exact same reason but it got taken off him during the TCO and that was the last of it.

Oh and I sold my sako and S&B scope to help fund this so that took a fair good sting out of the price.
