Got to feel for the fella. Out for so long, then he gets nailed by that clogger.

It looked to me like the injury wasn't to the leg that he just had surgery on.

A real pity - and he was playing superbly.

Benjamin Mendy exclusive: 'Man City are the big shark - when teams swim with us we gobble them up'

    Whatever happened to that guy?

Er; AIG, not Kun or Gabby!

Kun needs three more goals to become City's all time leading scorer. I can't see him playing at the Hawthorns on wednesday night in the LC, so hopefully (seeing as I'm at the game!), he can get another hat trick next weekend against Palace.

    Cue a 1-1 draw!
    :(

Enjoy the game today dude, hopefully we will crush them.

Cheers sg. Another 4 or 5 goal win would be great. Equally though, I'd be happy with a "no scares" 1-0 win.

I heard a stat last night; apparently Mendy has already put on more crosses than Kolarov and Clichy (combined) did all last season. Crazy stuff!

Enjoy. For some reason I am worried more about Palace at home than our next game - Chelsea away. Is Puncheon still there? He always scores against us.

Another stat - Our full backs already have more assists than in the whole of last season.

That's crazy talk, Chelsea are the bigger danger, can't remember the last time we beat them.

Palace are just the sort of game where "typical City" would rear its ugly head. They'll play a 10-0-0, and defend like their lives depended on it. An early goal would help, as it might make them think about venturing beyond the half way line. But the longer it stays goalless (or worse), the harder they'll be to break down. Chelsea will have to come out and have a go, with it being at Stamford Bridge. The obvious downside to that is that they've got bloody good players.

Yeah it is crazy talk, Chelsea are obviously a much better team than Palace, but I could see today being a struggle.

Our record against Chelsea isn't that bad. Out of the last 15 games our record is W7 D3 L5. We lost both last season, but the season before we beat them 3-0 home and away.

Really early days, but I am hoping Pep have couched the players out of the old typical city mentality. I mean it is not typical city to win 4, 5 or 6-0 like we have done. Normally shut up shop and cruise after 2up etc, so I think this is a very different city from a couple of years ago.

Still remember that game last season. Sideshow not getting a red card, and Kev missing that sitter. If we'd won that day, who knows what might have panned out? Ah well. S*** happens.

Hate that format too. The simple list like city watch use is easier to read and deduce formations.

Team looking flat, misplacing passes with no urgency which gives them time to get back into defensive mode.

Making hard work of it. Sitters missed by Fernandinho and Aguero not helping.

    Sane fantastic. Sterling frustrating.

Ederson finally a keeper that's not made of paper, he made a great save against Salah, every commentator said salah was poor with the shot which was bollox.
Ederson and Mendy signings we needed, about 2 seasons ago.

As I feared, Palace have defended well. Although I'm not sure how Aguero missed that chance. The performance has been a bit flat so far, and Stones is having his work cut out keeping tabs on Benteke. I won't rest easy til we get another goal.

It was a very awkward ball as it was a bit behind him, so tough to control.

Zero, just he seems so involved down to the last minute. I seen him at the start of second half and his attitude is brilliant.

TFM should be off. Sane roasting him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭suffering golfer

Well, goal difference is not going to be an issue, if it comes down to that. Ridiculous amounts of goals in the team. Not complaining though.

You would have enjoyed that second half - probably as good as we have played. Way better than the first half.

How the fk was TFM not sent off? Inside the box or outside maybe, but the ref bottled it.

    And Delph

I can't find a clip of Pep going nuts and assaulting a chair because we nearly gave up a chance - but did find his chat with the ball boy.

    It was alright, I suppose.
    ;)

I would disagree with you re. it being the best we played so far this season. In the first half, we seemed a bit flat; what the hip young kids of today might call a bit "meh". But that Sane goal just before the break seemed to loosen the shackles, and the second half was a bit more like it But for an overall performance, I would go with the display at Vicarage Road We were right on it from the off last weekend; something we weren't today. But today will do, if you know what I mean.
    :p

As for TFM, it's easy to see why our quiet neighbours let him go out on loan. He's a long way short of PL quality.

Possibly the best sequence of football I've seen from City ever, the last 4-5 games. Not getting carried away though if we are still playing like this around Christmas I will begin to believe. A couple of injuries to key personal could really derail it too, I'm thinking the full backs or one of the center backs.

Young Maffeo did a great job man marking Messi yesterday. Few quotes going around of Messi asking him his age and where he came from during the game.

Also, Benjamin Mendy is one of the biggest characters I've come across in Football. His constant taking the piss out of Kyle Walker on Twitter is hilarious.

I'd imagine Walker will be shooting from the hip today, about Mendy getting a yellow card and crocking HIMSELF at the same time!

Let's just say, it wasn't a tackle of beauty!

Massive game tonight. Crucial to win if we want any chance of topping the group and getting an easier draw in the next round (although that worked out so well last year!!)

Have the feeling we will see both Jesus and Aguero on top tonight as that is working well.

Mendy injury seems to be more serious then first though. According to BBC sport he is in Barcelona seeing the same specialist that has been treating Kompany. Thankfully we have Danilio, but hope it is not too serious with Mendy.

Just read on the Offical site that mendy is having a late fitness test for tonight's game.

Rumours on Twitter (I know!) that he may be out for the season. Hopefully, that's just the kneejerk drama queens.

Looking like Fabian at LB tonight. Hopefully he can do a job there for us while Mendy is out injured. Good to see Gundogan on the bench after being crocked against the Baggies. That front 5 though; Grrrr!
