    Hello all,

I’m not sure if this is the right thread but hopefully I’ll be pointed in the right direction. I am beginning a HNC/HND course in late September in London as a mature student and I am going to apply for a student loan. Regarding the qualification criteria for the loan, one item states that if I have a qualification higher than the course which I am beginning, then I may not be granted a loan. I have a degree that I was awarded back in 2004 (in Ireland) in a completely different field to the course I am starting in September. I just wanted to know if anyone here has had a similar issue and what was the outcome? Should I apply for the loan anyway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I was wondering the same thing. Im not sure from what i was told. If its the same level then you dont get anything, as a general rule. I cannot find any email address to clarify this though! Its a little grey for me. If you had funding too from your previous degree then the number of years you received funding will count against you, regardless if they paid for it or not! Which i found very very unfair!

Yeah I think I'll apply for the loan anyhow. No harm in trying though I don't hold out much hope!
