Getting some development experience as a teenager?

Hey everyone, this is my first thread :)

I'm a teenager who's been coding things for 3 or so years (Although, I knew HTML and CSS beforehand).

Over the last 3 years I've learned the basics of Python, Perl, JavaScript (both client-side and server-side using Node.js), PHP and I've recently delved into a little bit of C (although K&R's book on ANSI C is quite a handful for someone who's main experience is higher level languages [R.I.P. Dennis Ritchie]).

Presently, I'm more into front-end development with HTML(5), CSS(3) and JavaScript, as well as developing backends with Node.js.

I really want a summer job this year around frontend or backend development, and I've been searching for places to ask but I haven't found many and the places I asked currently don't have any plans taking on anyone next year for summer jobs/work experience.

I'm from around Wexford, so a job there would be really nice but I can travel out of the county I'm sure.

Some of my work includes http://kode.nu, http://fionn.co/minimo (which I was planning on cleaning up and selling on one of Envatos stores -- I DIDN'T DESIGN IT) and http://fionn.co which is currently not near finished.

If anyone knows a business that'd be interested in taking on people for a summer job or work experience, I'd really appreciate if you could reply to this thread. Or if you're a business looking to recruit someone for next summer.

    Thanks!
    Fionn.

    Roofles!

Not to mention that "your" version of minimo looks awful with the image transitions done the way they are. Make me nauseous.

    Just make stuff. Everything. Anything.

Try and make a web page in CSS3/HTML5/jQuery which has functions to connect to and external database using PHP/MySql ;D

If you've an interest in Node.js, get involved with http://www.nodejsdublin.com/

I was at one of the meet-ups last night, and they're putting together a pretty cool, open source Node project to help guys of all levels get involved with Node.js.

Get in contact with Richard Rodger and he'll point you in the right direction.

Doesn't offend me. Their license allows you to convert it to HTML/CSS and do as you wish. And I never claimed the design was my work ;)

Yeah, many have said similar. I might change them.

It isn't a perfect conversion of it, but I needed something for my portfolio and I also wanted something that would get me a little deeper into CSS3 transitions and different browser-specific CSS features.

Yeah, that looks nice. Not sure if I'd be able to make it up that far next summer though because I'd need some accommodation.
