Ok, lets say that the S is about to HTF. you have about 3 minutes notice ahead of everyone else and you happen to be in a supermarket.

you have time to grab 5 items before panic explodes, and a rucksack worth of space to hold them. lets assume you also have your BOB/GHB in the boot of your car.

    What do you take?

    Im thinking:
    1. A can of zippo fluid
    2. A bottle of bleach
    3. Big bag of sugar
    4. Bunch of batteries
    5. Roll of jumbo bin bags

    - ALL the chorizo, which I'll count as one item because that's how I roll, its as close to jerky as you're likely to find in an Irish supermarket
    - Tobacco for trade goods
    - The finest brandy for trade goods
    - A 10 kilo bag of spuds
    - I guess as much as I can get from the spice racks

    Great thread!

Well considering I would be stocked at home for most stuff I would take advantage of been in a supermarket and grab stuff that I havent got in my bag at the moment...

    1. paralief
    2. Milton (lighter than bleach and safer for sterilizing)
    3. Salt (for preserving meat)
    4. Muliti-Vitimans
    5. SMA ( Better than regular powdered milk)

    Few cases of beer
    Couple hundred marlboro
    Rizzla
    Deckchairs
The cute blonde on checkout 5

I'm not prepared for the apocalypse so I'd find a good spot to watch the world burn

can I ask a question first? Why is everyone putting bleach down as a must have? What are the main uses?

    1. Biggest bag of spuds possible
    2. As much water as possible
    3. Loads of sugar
    4. Loads of flour
    5. Wind up radio

purifying water is a big reason. cleaning out bottles or sterilising stuff after flooding. and general cleaning for hygiene

Having fed enough of it to the kids I hate the smell and wouldn't want to pour it on my cornflakes or in a cup of tea.

Haha I have a son myself and i aint fond of it but if its T.E.O.F.T.W.A.W.K.I and im in a supermarket I will take a heavily supplemented, vitamin fortified milk any day over powdered milk. Mix it rite and you wont need cornflakes or tea as its a food supplement.

But dont get me wrong if i dont have to drink it or smell it anymore than I have too I wont complain Ha Ha

As much sugar and salt as possible to preserve things!

    Tinned food.

Spuds, with hope of chitting them.

Cigarettes, don't smoke, but would hope to use them to trade.

    That's my five. Kind of...!

Great idea for a thread. :)

    Vegetable oil. (energy dense)
    Bleach. (water sanitation)
Multivitamins. (to prevent basic disease like scurvy in the event of prolonged lack of food)
    Painkillers. (family use, trade)
    Vodka. (personal use, trade, medical).

Might consider trading the multivits for seeds or instant coffee though.
