Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Come on lads, still a long way to go and we have created more chances and looked better than them. Give it time.

If we lose this we're in serious trouble, next 4 fixtures:

    Liverpool v Man City
    Liverpool v Arsenal
    Sunderland v Liverpool
    Liverpool v Man Utd

Is that true, that Steve Clarke was sacked via "a phone call from a girl in human resources"? Commentator on Setanta mentioned something, thought it was Clarke he was referring to. :(

How are we not wining this? We are by far the better team.

Downing/Kelly right flank is not likely to pull up many trees, Gerrard is a bit off the pace, Allen moderate, Borini likewise - both will need time to get used to their team mates and Rodgers will need time himself.

The chances are there, its mainly a case of not dropping the shoulders.

The goal was a gut punch, but just one of those things.

Plenty of encouraging things about how the team played in the first half, and would be confident of coming back strongly in this game.

Suarez has been great again, but he really needs to be more clinical for us this season. He should be aiming for 30 league goals and already today he should have a couple.

The impression I get from Suarez is that if you give him space he's lost. Give him a chance to turn you or trick you or squeeze a shot through and he could well do it, give him an open shot and he panics.

No one was standing outside the box. Was a great goal but could have defended a bit better.

    I find this viewpoint frustrating.

With every goal now on every game, people always say that the defenders could have done better.

Sometimes a good goal is just a good goal.

Same story as last year? Dominate games for 80 mins and lose to a super goal on the break.

Not a terrible half from Liverpool, but several players really not at the races. Stevie G is having a very bad day at the office, poor pass selection and worse execution - he did put one lovely ball in for Borini when he ran into the back of Ridgewell, so there is hope.
Huge second half considering the run of fixtures coming up!!

Was a clearing header, it fell to Gera, chest and hit....not sure what anyone could of done, was just a great hit.

Seen enough in the first half to suggest we will score here. Good match anyway, both sides playing well.

Superb strike, defending wasn't that bad in fairness.

Borini has been poor so far, hopefully picks it up in the second half.

In relation to playing possession football, its all well and good stroking it about but there must be some purpose to it, rather than passing for the sake of passing. Possession football devoid of any penetration is pointless. Its like letting a feather fisted boxer outpoint you for 6 rounds when you know full well you can end it with power of your own once you are arsed.

Martin Kelly is also extremely limited as a full back, I hope he blossoms into a good central defender. He won't flourish as a full back in this system I think, where he will be expected to make an impact higher up the field.

How did Olsson not get a yellow card?

They're running right through the midfield every time the get the ball.

This has a familiar ring to it. We look dangerous at times though and Allen has looked pretty assured.

The time to whinge about a result is when it actually is a result. It is only half time in the first league game of the season.

As for playing "great" last season more often than not, well I guess it depends on how easily one throws out the word great.

I'm not overreacting. I'm just saying that with the ridiculously tough run of fixtures we have coming up, losing this would make them even more daunting.

Also I think we're playing pretty well but it's the same old same old. On past evidence we won't get anything from this game. Really hope I'm wrong.

    Fox's Half-Time show is epic.

They've managed to get four sponsor segments in during the 45 seconds of analysis.

    Sponsored by T-Mobile
    Gatorade Analysis

And eh...two others I am forgetting!

97% - Joe Allen completed 97% of his passes (34/35) for Liverpool in the first half vs WBA. Precise

To be fair, he didn't send Suarez off for kicking Walker (?) up the hole last season.

How lost is boring lads contributing nothing

he's making very good runs. Wouldn't call him lost its his first game in the league for us he needs time to settle. He looks like a lad that can have a bad game and pop up with a goal in the last 10 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

    Borini reminds me of Hernandez
isnt doing much from general play
but looks dangerous around the box with the positions he takes up

He can contribute a lot more than Hernandez I reckon....also has a grasp of the offside rule.
