Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hello i am going to look at a 1996-1998 (exact year is unknown) Honda CR250, just wondering is there anything to look out for and what are they like powerwise and reliability?

Does these years have a powervalve?

    Never drove a 250 2 stroke, im coming off a Kx125

All the CR250's had a powervalve from 84 or so IIRC.
They are a good engine, there was very little change in that engine from the late 80's to the end of life. I think the piston was the same from 86-06 and then from 96-07 or so.
1996 will be a steel frame and after that they were aluminium.

do some research on the model years, a lot of people are trying to sell on bikes that are not the correct age, like cj says 2007 the switched to a alloy frame.Check all the basics, brakes, suspension linkage, forks seals ect.... Be prepared to sink 4-500 into it for a rebuild and other maint items.
