Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jordi Alba looks so comfortable, like he's been there for years!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭BetterCallSaul

Barca look much more balanced with this formation, wasn't a fan of that 3 at the back they were using last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭miralize

They're saying Villa scored during pre-season? Which preseason is that? He played 15 minutes at the end of the last game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭miralize

    4-1 Pedro!

Delighted for Pedro! And Tello for that matter. SHows that he's not just a pacey trickster, but can also pick out a great pass too. I'm now very optimistic this season :D

My cousin is at the game. Behind the goal Barca scored into too. I'm a tad jealous!

    yay villa is back. hero!

I can never understand why barca dont sub messi. 4-1up twenty minutes to go. take him off and rest him. one bad injury to him and they could be facked! Think Pep didnt sub him for over 2 years or something crazy like that!

I do really like the new Barca jersey though

Delighted for Villa, such a tough injury to come back from. Wonderful from Iniesta there.

indeed i do. all the more reason to protect/rest him when youre winning a game 4-1.

He's fresh now but I definitely think they need to start to do this later in the season. He looked exhausted during the Chelsea and Madrid games last season.

yeah, the whole not subbing him for 2 years was retarded! the amount of times they had games wrapped up with 30mins to go too...

Messi doesn't appreciate not playing, and it's well documented how the Barca coaches do all in their power to keep him happy. He's like an eager child in that sense, very refreshing to hear, don't know how many other players, big players, are like that. Rooney is probably another example.

Dani Alves just looks stranger & stranger each season.

"The kick-off times were conditioned by an agreement between the LFP and the AFE (the players' union) that the Spanish league season should start on the same weekend as the rest of the leagues in Europe, on August 18," the statement reads.

"The players need to be protected from the high temperatures of mid August and so the AFE asked us to make sure that no games started before 19:00CET.

"Therefore, we have had to schedule games at unusual times in August. Kick-off times will return to the usual times as of the third weekend of the season.
i think the weather had an effect on Real today
they lacked pace in there attack

36 degrees at kick off in Madrid last night ,thats fairly hot .

Good result for Valencia last night. I've read that it was the first time that Ronaldo failed to get a shot on target for Real Madrid at the Bernabeu- credit to Perreira in his first competitive game for Valencia.

Pity about the 'offside' goal for Soldado (everytime I see it it's harder to believe how bad a call it was!), but a point is great in Madrid. Get something against Barca in two weeks time and maybe the Spanish league might be interesting for a little bit longer this season.

Deserved, if only for the abomination that is the Barcelona away jersey.

Osasuna is one hell of a ground to go to and get a result. Barca have been a bit dodgy in Pampolona over the years. Draw wouldn't be the worst result in the world, but still, plenty of time left to turn this around.

Plus Barcelona stuffed them 8-0 or 9-0 or something mad like that last year, vengeance!

Great blocks by Pique, should've been 2-0.

    Nop :P

Barcelona beat them 8-0 in 2011, and Osa beat them 3-2 in January so technically I'm right :P

Should be 2-0. One on one with the keeper

    1-1

    It was offside

    1-1 Messi, of course

Christ, the Barca jersey is atrocious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

There's an Osasuna guy in the crowd with what appears to be an Irish flag. He seems to have a flag on his jersey though that is the Ivory Coast flag. What's with that?

Don't think it was tbh, the ref did get in the way of an Ossasuna player in the build up, then sent one of them off.

    Poor little Barca weren't winning.

I'm guessing it was an Ivory Cost flag he was holding then/

The fella kind of looks Irish though, and doesn't appear to know half of the chant. He knows the first line, but not the second.
