Gaming Laptop

So I'm due a new laptop and I'm thinking of getting one that can handle a bit of gaming. I'm not 100% sure on this, so I haven't really set a budget but I don't want to be spending HUGE money. The laptop doesn't have to be able to do things like Battlefield on max settings, I'd prefer decent enough graphics with smooth frame rates and game play.

Anyway, I haven't looked at too many laptops yet, just saw this one on this site where a friend of mine got a refurbished laptop which was perfect for a big discount :http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/GRADE_A1_-_Acer_Aspire_5750G_Core_i7_Laptop_a1-LX.RCF02.151/version.asp?PID=171

Is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M card considered good for gaming? Any other laptop suggestions before I go trawling through the internet for others would be greatly appreciated!

The GT 540M is a tad slower than the GT 630M or the HD 7670M and they are not exactly great gaming cards but OK for the resolution. The Core i7-2630QM though is a lot better than any Ivy Bridge Core i5, so 611 yoyos is a pretty decent offer.

    Why is this so hard...
Im not a fan of the alienware ...and was looking at the ASUS G75 T1040v
But I can't see it for sale in Ireland - would love to physically try the keypad etc..before i buy online to see whats it like for typing etc..for me.. as well as the MSI gt70...

I also found these custom laptop makers
    http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk
    http://www.pwnpcs.co.uk

-- anyone out there get a laptop from these and if so what are they like?...:confused:

I bought a laptop from pcspecialist.co.uk last month (Optimus IV 17inch). Very happy with it so far though it may not suit you if you're in a rush. It took a couple of weeks to get mine.

    No.

Best vent system im ever seen on a laptop. 2 big vents on the back each side.

Laptop never seems to heat up no matter how much i use it. In college i use it about 5 hours a day then pretty much the same at home.

Right now its just above room Temp. Mix of games and college work all day.

Took about 5 days to arrive i think.

I type all day as im studying software development.

Its no better or worse than any other laptop really. Coming off a 17 inch dell and its pretty much the same apart from return button being a bit smaller. Well used after a few days.

Nice backlit keyboard. Never realised how good they are. Helps a lot.
