***k down my way at the end of my road was 171.9 last night, this morning he was 169.9, hope he was tongue lashed out of it, Father comes up from Cork every few months and says my garage is the dearest on his route, hence why I never ever buy petrol off him.

Going to be a messy few months along with Hogan chasing the domestic household charge and changing the road tax system to fleece us even more while teeling us it is a fair tax system

Not so sure about this. You also made a prediction back in early July that major news coming out of China was going to have a positive effect ( for the consumer ) on the price of oil...see http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=79596975 message # 43.

Still waiting for this 'news' to bring the price of a barrel of oil down:rolleyes:

China economy is a bubble waiting to burst, problem is August is a no news month. A lot of analysts did not believe the figures given out by official sources last month.

At the end of the day, there is no shortage of oil. New technology allows for previous uneconomic oil finds to be commercialised. (e.g. off Irish coast) Finds off Brazil in the past few years are gigantic and move to efficiency by consumers has led to stabilisation of consumption.

Speculators are the real culprits along with "special" goverment taxes -

2c National Oil Reserves agency levy - WHY??? - at this stage they have a huge reserve built up. Could easily be suspended for 6 months.

circa. 7c Carbon tax - its not neccessary at present, again could easily be suspended for 6 months.

add 23% vat to above and unneccessary tax adds 11c to your litre. This could be suspended overnight if the government wanted.
