Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The season starts for real this afternoon, the Champions are back.

Big team news as Rodwell starts -

Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Y Toure, Rodwell, Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero.

Subs: Pantimilion, Kolarov, Savic, De Jong, Milner, Balotelli, Dzeko.

Can't see anything other than a City win, I think the real question is how many will they score.

Strange one. Are we still going with 3-5-2. Doesn't look it from that team.

Looking forward to this. Defending Champions has a nice ring to it.

Surprised by that. Best of luck to him but with the amount of talent available at City I can't see him being involved that much.

Saints: K Davis, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Lallana, Puncheon, Guly, Rodriguez
Subs: Gazzaniga, Lambert, S Davis, Sharp, Richardson, Shaw, Seaborne

    Hopefully not a massacre.

Dream debut for 17yr old Ward-Prowse. Saints have had a number of exciting youngsters coming through. Will be looking out for him and Nathan Clyne who could prove a good signing. Lambert and Sharp on the bench is a little odd but Nigel obviously doesn't anticipate being in the final third too often.

Hope Saints give a good account of themselves, good to see them back up. Afraid they're in for a rough afternoon however, I'm gonna say City do a Fulham, 5-0 home win

What a load of crap with the tape .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,704 ✭✭✭Corvo

FFS. Officials can't tell when a ball is about two yards over a goal line or decide between themselves regarding a simple yellow or red card but god help you if you have blue socks and white tape.

Southampton have quite a bit of pace in that side! Aguero down...... Fantastic tackle...

    EDIT: Look's horrible for Aguero...

if wear have tape on your socks, the colour of the tape must be the same as the socks (White socks + White tape) Silva had blue socks and white tape

New regulation means if you have say red socks, it must have red tape. In Silva's case, he was hauled off because he had blue socks and white tape. It's so officials can tell the difference when tackles are flying and avoid confusion. Bollocks.

Looked like a great tackle. Won the ball.
Aguero is clearly in a lot of pain though.

Aguero being out would be a huge loss!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

my instinct as he fell was Cruciate...looks rough. not nice to see any player get an injury like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

He's walking off to be fair to him, surely they won't risk him though?

Some tackle. Aguero is walking. Should be alright.

I refer you to Lucas last season.

    Hopefully just a strain

Looked more like LCL to me the way he went over on it.

EDIT: Aguero's reaction straight after the tackle may be some indication that it may be something more serious. He seemed in a lot of pain. I'm a United fan and I hope it's not too bad.

    Yep, that's a penalty. ****e...

Surprised Tevez didn't take that mind?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

Looks like Howard Webb hasnt changed anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,796 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Players taking those penos does my head in, what's the point? Very low percentage penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭double GG

Anyone else feel Lescott's tackle could have been a penalty? Outside the box most probably would have been a free kick.

I tore my cruciate and I walked off the pitch. The first few minutes lying on the ground are agony though. Really hope it's not his cruciate :(

Aye, its not obvious at first, once the knee starts swelling up and you're in utter agony, thats when it becomes horrifically apparent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

They can't give Tevez space like that. Looks like City are going to make the breakthrough.

Didn't think he'd get a look in myself for a while yet but I suppose they are a little weak in that area, I'm not a fan of Barry.

Can see a city goal before half time. Massive up in tempo.

    EDIT: Goal, Offside?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

    Goal for Tevez, well taken.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    He was offside.

Kelvin Davis in ''should have done better'' shocker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

    We needed that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

offside, but no surprise given previous City games involving Howard Webbs crew. brutal goal keeping also, though smashing ball from Nasri.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,734 ✭✭✭Fowler87

    Super ball from Nasri that

What a mixed half of football this has been.

Very impressed with Rodwell's composure on the ball. Nasri had been great, a complete contrast to Silva. Good time to score.
