Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hey everyone,

Short question: Bought myself a used bike which does not have road tax on it, Do I have to wait until the details come through for the vehicle ownership change or can I pay the road tax on it already?

Would be handy if I could pay road tax allready and not have to wait till everything gets posted out.

The bike has to be registered in your name, and you have to be insured on it before you can tax it.

You have to have the bike in your name, once you get the papers back you can then go to the tax office and tax it.

You can tax it online, input your insurance details. No need to leave the couch....

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

You can't tax a vehicle for the first time online.

Yes you can. there is a section that you can put in your details and retrieve the pin number . Done it myself several times.

Yeh if you press pin retrieval and enter the details you put on the log book you get the pin emailed to you. if the log book was sent in to be changed they should have entered the new details after a few days so you could try it even if you haven't received the new one yet.

You can tax online, have done it with my last two new bikes which is pretty much the same as the pre-loved bike process.
