Ohh! Surely ye don't get Christmas exams as well do ye? :O

Well, my timetable for the year says that the JC/LC Mocks are on from Wednesday 20th February to Friday 1st March (inclusive), but I always thought the mocks were only a week long  Oh well! :) I suppose I'm lucky to have mid-term for revsion! :'D
No christmas exams :D But still, Ew, Mocks :pac:

Hey everyone! :L Haven't been on in a while! :)
:O Time is flying! Getting a bit anxious now, a few of us just realised we still have like 6 physics chapters we haven't covered yet!
The class tests are absolutely killing me x.x Hate them with a passion!
    Hope you're okay Eva!
@TheUnionForever: I love English and History too! :D
Actually wishing I had done music, we just got our art themes (I think I'll do a Close Look) and I'm wracking my brains for something to do o.o

Thanks to all ye 4th years who are so nice and helpful! :)
    If I've any questions I won't hesitate!

Hey Amy :D It is! :O We've a good few chapters left in science as well! But like I'm sure it'll all go grand :) We've most of the physics done now (Just one chapter left!) so if you've any questions :D

Keep us posted on your project :D Be interesting to see what ye all do! :D I'm dying to get my woodwork ones! :O Another few weeks to wait though </3

I've most of my exam papers at this stage now. I also missed out on a truckload of Geography notes last week, so gonna be catching up on them tomorrow hopefully.

Yeah, mine was pretty good! Starting to see a difference in the work in school already! :L Business is absolutely killing me :L My teacher has singled me out from everyone else cause I'm her favourite (<-- cockiest sentence I ever wrote! :L) and she has me doing exam papers while she teaches everyone else

Oh god, I know how you feel, same with me in science, except I can do the exam papers so the teacher has me and another friend doing LC experiments, and everyone is watching you, it's awful haha

    I love science though, Physics<3
Dead set on doing medicine ($$ And because it seems like a savage course)
or Astrophysics, Mainly astrophysics though, I do my homework watching documentaries on Quantum theory and mechanics and other things like that,

We are quite alike ;) Seeing as you love the Big Bang Theory too haha

    How was your day? :P

I'm a science-head too, but my science teacher's not a fan of mine (Apparently you should not correct your science teacher if she's wrong :L)!

I'm planning on medicine too! :'D I think it's one of the most fascinating fields of study to be honest. Surgerys and Clinical research fascinate me to bits! I love them! XD I'm dead set on specialising in neurosurgery! :')

If medicine wasn't an option then Theoretical Physics would be my next option. And no, it's not cause I want to be even more like Sheldon

Hey :D Yeah, history is so interesting and I love to write. Nice to find someone who enjoy these subjects too :) I see you do art? I love art.. even though I didn't keep it on :( I tried to do it outside of school but that meant three times more work and it affected too much of my school work :p

Ahaha, I can't correct my science teacher, because he is never really wrong haha
But the course lies to you for Junior cert, which I pointed out a few times haha
    Example
'' Light travels in straight lines''
    *Cough.... Coughhh..... Wave/Particle duality...... cough...*
I'm looking forward to my science exam, the exam papers are dead easy too, you can finish them in 20 minutes! :D
We'll see about medicine though, I don't really want to do biology because plants. I hate plants :/. Although, the chapters on the systems are quite good aswell :)
Oh and while I can think of it. ''Atoms are the smallest things in the Universe''
So, uhh, Quarks and leptons don't exist then?
    Oh science, you silly. :D

:O I said that exact sentence about light to her :L She told me I was wrong  Oh teachers

Ya tbh, I don't really mind them! It's the experiments that catch me! I've one of the messers class so my teacher won't let us do experiments! Instead we've to just learn about them and I end up forgetting them  I'll have to come up with something to combat that :L

I don't mind the plant parts being honest. I find them tolerable! :L I actually don't mind anything on the science course :)

What about you? Or any course for that matter? :L

    I hate:
    -Irish poetry, so boring
-Business, chapters like, Delivery systems, don't like the General journal either, or the way they word questions and try to put you off in exams
-Science, Plants, Atoms because the don't do quarks :'( And some other small things like litmus paper, how to measure the Ph of a lemon? STICK A PH METER IN IT. Gosh haha.
-English, In general, not a fan of it at all.
-Maths, I hate probability and Stats, so boring, but, functions <3
-Geography, Rocks. Oh god so boring
-History, everything Except after World war 1 and I like the Roman chapter too.

Yet, I still get A's in these, except english. ENGLISH. I hate it, :P

    Ah now!

    - Irish poetry depends on what poems you do with your teachers! The one's on the exams are just generally awful! (Heard the LC ones are supposed to be nicer) Like fot the questions on the exam there's only so many poems you can do but if you look there's actually some really good ones :D
    - Business.. Ah well ya it's pretty dull :L And the accounting questions are just generally mean yokes :L
    - Science.. Ya you're dead right about the course! I think they should go waay more into stuff in it, but I suppose there's only so much you can do with a course that combines the three main sciences! I reckon there should be some cool LC courses like Forensic Science or Marine Biology or Anatomy and Phisiology and stuffs :D It would be way cooler than Agricultural Science
    - English! :O WHY?? :O
    - Maths - AGREED. Can't beat a good ol' bar chart though <3
    - Also agree with Geography, but I suppose it's got to be covered really :L
    - I actually really like the History course, most of it! :') The first few parts can be dull at times (in particular the religious ones ) but I generally think it's interesting enough! :D

I don't know, our teacher makes us learn so much, If we get it wrong orally we get punishment and he marks our tests really tough, I'm sure I'll get an alright mark in the JC, never had an interest with it :p
Definitely about the science, I was doign some LC stuff and to be honest, it's really difficult (Physics) Like, was looking at particle physics and quarks and stuff, and it gets really mathy.
Ah here, bar charts are serious yokes haha.
Also, It's just, you can probably speak fluent irish, I can't although I have a wide vocabulary in it :P But, I never liked poetry, I mean. It bores me haha xD

Hope our maths paper is gentle :P

My friend was out today so I actually had to pay attention in Science (for the first time in 3 years), and I actually learned stuff. We've all the Chemistry chapters done in the book thankfully. Annoying thing is that I've to rewrite nearly all of the experiments I've done in 1st and 2nd year as I lost my experiment copy sometime in March. I also have to have an essay done by next Monday which was due last Tuesday, although I was sick for most of last week so didn't have a chance to start it, also means I've to do 2 essays at the one time, which is gonna annoy me so much. We're just revising in CSPE as my class done our Action Projects last year. I also have to do the Religion project due months ago, but because my laptop is stupid, I can't restart the project until I get a new computer for Christmas. Irish is also going OK, just writing a summary on a story we read.

Keep paying attention! Science is great ;)

Also, am I the only one who thinks the history course is not as troublesome as people say it is,
I mean. 20 Short Q's, and you have to answer 10, just ten, your almost guaranteed to get them all.
Also, the People in history are standard too, remember the first word of each paragraph, it should only take around 20 minutes to get one off by heart, The pictures and documents are easy too, and Q6 on the paper is about modern things like Facism and WW2 and things like Social change right? That stuff is way easier than the 1st and 2nd year stuff!

Am I the only one who thinks the Business course is the hardest? I mean, almost every sentence in the book has a key term, and Q1 is a pain.
It's quite difficult to remember the layout of P/L Accounts, and the Balance sheet.
There is way more in business than history imo.
    Your thoughts?7

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 255 ✭✭OiOshawott

I guess so, then again the teacher I had for Science didn't help one bit. Thankfully, I got a new one, but he was left with a pile of stuff to catch up on, even though the other class my old teacher had are(?) ahead of us.
History is quite easy if you know what you're writing. In fact it was my only consistently good subject last year. I got 80% in the Christmas exam and 78% in the Summer exam. I also like History a lot, it's fairly interesting.
I actually think the layout of the TPL and Balance Sheet accounts is easy to remember, just where everything goes and getting them right are the hard parts. The Business course is hard if you don't know what everything means IMO, if you do, you should do fine.
I also think the Irish course is difficult enough, but I'm hoping I do OK at Higher Level in Irish.

Hey Guys! :) I now feel like the only person here who doesn't dislike any of the courses! I think there's a lot of room for improvement but I don't actually mind any of the courses! :)

Like I said guys! :D I'm here for anyone in any way I can! Even if I don't do the subjects, I'm sure there's bound to be some help I may be able to offer :D

I actually don't mind most the courses, just that Irish, Geography and Science are the most boring for me. I love the History course though, as well as the Religion one, as they interlink in some cases such as the Renaissance, etc. I also like them because all you need to know is what to write and how much you need to write.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭The Union Forever

Hey again :D I notice a lot of you do religion as an exam subject.. I'm glad we don't have it as an exam subject in my school. Is meant to be hard, is it? I do find the subject interesting though. I'm really worried about my Irish listening. We've been doing cluastuiscints in class since the start of 2nd year and I'm still seeing no improvements D:
    I don't mind most of the courses except;
Science: I'm not too keen on most of chemistry. The experiments dominate the whole section and I don't find it really interesting:/
History: I love all of this course except the religious revolution or whatever
    Irish: Uggh.. most of it:(
Maths: Most of project maths:/ & proving theorems :O I loveee everything algebra though:D
    Music: Dictation
And I really don't mind everything else.
@Bazinga_N & MmmPancakes: Thanks for offering the help :D
@OiOshawott: I know what you mean about the science. I used to feel the same way about science and then at the start of 2nd year, I actually listened in class and I found it really interesting. I love it now :D

We just finished the Chemistry section. I actually found the experiments interesting, yet never quite understood what their purpose was. The History section you're thinking of is the Renaissance by the way. Music, I hate Music so much, but I'm only gonna do it for the LC just so I can get better at the guitar. Maths is ugh, at least I'm doing OL so it's far easier. Irish is just... No. Hate it with a passion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭The Union Forever

No, no.. I love the Renaissance.. I dunno, I think it's a different section, maybe not? The one with Martin Luther in it? Heh heh, music is real difficult for LC. How long you've been playin guitar for? I kinda agree with you there with Irish, but I'm tryin to not admit to it..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭The Union Forever

    The reformation, that's it.

    Luckyyyyyy
Religion is terrible IMO, You have so much to write in 2/2.5 hours (not sure).
I don't like the idea of writing on something that may not be true either.
The exam papers are a pain, they take for ever.
Project maths sucks quite a lot, I took a look at SEC's website for the Maths project maths paper 1. I swear it was really easy, except the graph questions, as we have not covered them for HL yet.
So, I hope that the maths paper is as generous to us xD
Looking forward to the science exam,

Also, you know the project we have to do for science?
Do we have to use the SEC's titles or can we do our own one.
I mean, Investigating the properties or non newtonian fluids would be epic! :D

Non-newtonian fluids I actually do find interesting, even though it is chemistry aha :p

Yeah, I agree. Ah thanks a million :D My class is nearly finished the course. We have one more chapter in physics and three in biology. I'm glad that we'll have lots of revision time. We're just finishing off current electricity, we did the ohm's law experiment today. How bout you?

I don't do much in science to be honest, Me and my friend just do exam papers and questions from the chapters we have left, sometimes the teacher gives us a LC Physics book to read, the JC course is fairly standard.
    I have yet to do
    -Fuels
    -Plastics
    -Ecology (Kill me now.)
    -Electronics
I might do them in my own time and do some papers or get a head start on the LC course, just definitions and ****, I can't do the maths until 5th year haha

So, yeah, I'm happy, science is one of those subjects where you don't forget easily :)
