Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would have been very surprised to see RVP start this. Likewise I'd be very surprised to see him remain on the bench.

This latest team is the one.

    Everton:

Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Pienaar, Osman, Neville, Gibson, Fellaini, Jelavic

rooney better not be out left. If he is through the middle, then Young would have been better out wide than Welbeck...

Wonder is Valencia happy playing right back? He's a beast of a winger

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,139 ✭✭✭Red Crow

I'll go for a score draw. Everton away is always tough.

    De Gea
    Valencia Vidic Carrick Evra
    Cleverley Scholes
    Nani Rooney Kagawa

I reckon it'll be Kags on the left, hopefully it's Welbeck but I've a feeling Kags will be the one to take the bullet.

    It must be this.

    Scholes Clev

    Kagawa

    Nani Welbeck

    Rooney

Subs: Lindegaard, Rafael, Anderson, Berbatov, Young, Van Persie, Wootton

Good to see Berbatov on the bench, Wootton also.

    No Hernandez........ injury?

The fact he had a horror show in his last game might have something to do with it.

interesting, could indeed be a 4-4-2, hadnt even thought of that :pac:

    Going for a United win.

    3-1

RVP to make appearance for last 20 mins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,229 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Valencia and Carrick at the back, ignore all our attacking power, we're not winning or even getting a point with that ramshackle backline.

    Fúcking injuries.

I'll take a scrappy 1-0 United win now. Anything just to get off to a good start.

I'm actually quite happy to see Dimitar get a look in on the bench, he must be saving Hernandez for one reason or another, no news with regards an injury or something like that anyway.

Those are some very interesting stuff there on #MNF

The change in crosses to goals ratio and passes from the last 5 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,309 ✭✭✭Vertigo100

A scrappy win tonight is the best we can hope for with that back 4 I think!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,553 ✭✭✭✭Copper_pipe

    Id take a 1-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭double GG

Have a feeling Shinji will be key tonight. We have 3 very good passers in midfield tonight in Cleverley, Scholes and Kagawa so we should be able to keep the ball well. Doubt there'll be many chances but I'm pretty confident we can go there and win tonight. Won't be an easy win but I think 2-1.

Kagawa and Rooney to score after Jelavic opens the scoring.

I hope they don't score first. We didn't come back from a losing position once last year.

What's up with the hash tag? I'm not being smart, but what's its use outside of Twitter?

Nani, Welbeck, Kagawa and Rooney, they will be so hard to track because they can all swap around with each other, this is the game plan I hoped Ferguson was developing.

Valencia is the only one that can't swap positions like the other 4 and he's playing RB. This is such an aggressive line up, especially for an away game.

I reckon itll be 0-0 up until the 70 minute, rvp will come on and united will win 60 billion - 0 .
I wonder what odds Ill get on that.

Jelavic to score anytime is 9/4. Good value.

Everton generally give utd a decent game. Hard to predict this one as it's first game of the season.

    I'll say 1-1.

Gibson is playing for Everton so I fear that this will end in a draw or a win for Everton. Hopefully his pretty incredible record comes to an end tonight.

This is going to be a tough game I hope United can come away with 3 points, also looking forward to seeing how Kagawa plays.

Can't say I'm shocked, he's been playing there a lot pre season and has been solid enough.

Cleverley is gonna show himself to be a quality player this season. Not as good on the ball as the very best, clearly, but his use of the ball and movement are superb.

As for creativity - I do think Cleverley will help here but Kagawa is going to be a freaking star for United in this regard, quality player.

Cleverly will prove himself to be an average player this season as he has shown thus far in his career. A definite weak link.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,923 ✭✭✭cloptrop

Vidic will be key stopping Fellaini bullying about the edge of the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭double GG

Rafael played 6 full games in the olympics in the space of what 18 days? An extra week break will do him the world of good.

Hard to say he's a weak link when he has played so little.

He has been over-rated by some though.

    Difference between Giles and Neville...

Giles: "X is a disgrace - He never tracks back or chases opponents"

Neville: "World class forwards like X shouldnt track back or chase opponents - They should conserve their energy for doing damage in the final third of the field"

Neville is incredibly good as a pundit

    Good Jaysus, it's Kaga-wah, not Ka-gaw-wah

I know but when you have Rafael it makes no sense.

He played bad in the Olympics final but he's vastly better than Val at RB.
