    Hi,

As the title suggests, where would be a good place either in Salthill or town to go for coffee and be able to chat and relax in comfort after 7pm? All the cafe's seem to be closed that I can see.

    Java, Il Vicolo, Pura Vida.

I find Java tiny, if there's anyone else upstairs, its hard to have a conversation without overhearing. Its just too small.

where are Il Vicolo and Pura Vida and do they open late?

One of them is down opposite the library where Cafe Luna used to be, but I've not been in there yet. Even smaller than Java's though.

And don't shoot me for suggesting it, but McDonald's is 24 hour now.
Yes, the food and coffee may be ****e, but the seats are comfortable. Three times now we've found ourselves in there playing cards and scrabble after being kicked out of Java's at closing time...
The downside is having to eat the food you purchase, of course.

Il Vicolo have nice coffee but everything else is pretty expensive although nice. Pura Vida is at the very end of Quay St opposite Jurys, always see it open later in the evenings, never been.

McDonald$ coffee isn't actually that bad, surprisingly. If anything it's quite refreshing to not have to order a tall grande vente skinny cappacuitatto. No delusions of grandeur in Ronald's house, just a McCoffee with some feckin sugar tanks and gluck.

I know its not a cafe but Oslo is a nice place in the evenings. It seems less 'pubby' than other pubs, but I've never been in it after 7 so not sure if the atmosphere changes at night.

Pura Vida have a nice seating area upstairs looking on the Spanish Arch.
Good coffee and great cakes I think they open until 9pm in the summer,it's opposite Jury's at the bottom of Quay street.
