Very hard one to call. Both teams are extremely fit and strong. Cork may have stronger squad overall but donegal have options on the bench too and so far have made good use of them.

Have read a few times now that to stop donegal all you need to do is keep Murphy and McFadden quite. That is very naive thinking. This year donegal have really spread the scores about.

Cork are one of the few teams about with a number of forwards that can take scores from distance. It is going to come down to how accurate they are on Sunday+when+shooting+under+pressure+and+from+tighter+angles.

    There+is+very+little+between+them.+Have+a+feeling+that+the+hype+about+donegal's+system+might+put+cork+off+their+natural+game+and+give+donegal+that+edge.+

Interview with Aaron Kernan here where he has some interesting things to say about the game amongst other things:

nice piece, I though it was a great move to have him on the TV too, he was able to talk about the games and did not seem to think he had to represent Ulster, he just represented himself. Good to know they analyse for so long before the show, I though it was more off the cuff too.

I though it started off a little old school about "not carrying the ball into the tackle" but his advice to Cork about what they will need to do was very well put, "try and bypass a line nearly every time they kick the ball" simple and to the point, I guess when you understand the game like he does you can do that.

He's just ridiculously articulate, you could listen to him talk about football all day.

i fancy cork for this game, they have been the best team in the country the last few year and i'd be very surprised if they don't go on and win the all ireland

All-Ireland champions Cork sent out a strong statement of intent as they recorded a massive 8-27 to 0-02 victory over Donegal in the TG4 Ladies Football All-Ireland Senior Championship quarter-final at Dr Hyde Park in Roscommon.

:rolleyes: Now if the women can do it :rolleyes:

Another way of saying all the pressure is on them.

I think Donegal have their heads straight and it'll be a hell of a game.

Big tree is rocking. About a million donegal fans and 4 cork fans. Cork are hot favourites but i think we will put it up to them and have a chance

Jesus, talk about ruining the game. The amount of players defending for Donegal. Hope they get thrashed.

Decent match so far, Cork fouling a lot though.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 936 ✭✭✭Prick!

That was a foul. Donegal getting most of the decisions.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,562 ✭✭✭✭Sunnyisland

Cork a tiny bit getting the upperhand for the moment.

Cork look very calm. In comparison Donegal seem to be doing a lot of work. Can they keep it up for 70 mins ?

More negative football from Donegal with their centre half back scoring.

Cork reply with the point of the day.

    Exciting game thats lacking quality.

Referee being very one eyed against Cork at the moment.

Cork can't buy a free, whereas Donegal seem to get everything around the scoring zone.
It was the same story against Kerry IMO.

Theres the quality, 3 great scores, first O'Neill then Lacey and now Sheehan.

the amount of foot passes is ****. It should be called handball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,636 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Crinklewood

If that hand pass stat was the other way around RTE would be looking to ban it.

Not like Cork can do anything else. Donegal have their own 65 cornered off.

Decent passing and movement would negate that. Negative sideways stuff gets nowhere.

Cork seem strong on the bal ( brushed past a good few tackles, and indeed fouls ) Still reckon they'll win it.

What a game. Very intriguing. Who said Donegal are boring :D Using the ball brilliantly!

Nah. Donegal would love long passes in, they'd isolate the Cork players then.

"Well, that was a boring half," said no one.

Cork looked lost on attack at the end there with Donegal taking the initiative. Good for Cork the break came when it did I think.

Their plan of getting everyone behind the ball is making the game very boring. Tense game, but boring.
