So yeah just read about it on the irish times. Are they making it harder and no longer giving cao points or something?

Wut, no one gives you points, you earn them with your exams. Everyone's going mental and blaming the maths bonus points, but only 3000 people actually got them (the rest got no net gain) and with the amount of courses rising (and rising by more than 25), I'd assume people just did better overall and/or there are more international students.

There's more demand for science/maths based courses now. If you take a look at the statistics there's actually been a fall in demand for courses such as arts etc. Of course competition for college places is going to increase what with the current economic situation, students are becoming more aware of the importance of third level education IMO.

What they are doing is attempting to f*ck up the system more than they all ready did this year. Giving extra points for one subject, just because it has a high failure rate (aka maths) is a joke! And now they are trying to bring in different points for each subject. Look at how high all the courses are this year, who knows what they will be next year!
