Is the new Boards...some of it, all of it, still Vbulletin based or is it a different beast, specifically built for Boards?

Or, what exactly has changed-->is changing, with the Hamsters? (to put it a non techy way:pac:)

    Just curious really...

I was going to attempt an answer, but Danny already did it better here (the first two paragraphs in particular). A noteworthy part is the fact that the touch site doesn't actually use vbulletin at all

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

vBulletin is a still there at the heart of things. It's not something we can just throw away over night and still have a functioning website.

Our development strategy is something like the following:

First we build a well defined API that handles all our data layer access. This is pretty much done, there will be modifications and updates in the future but the vast majority of actions you can perform on the site can now be handled through the API.

Second we build a UI layer on top of this API to replace the vBulletin UI. This is in progress and will probably be in progress for another year at least. The touch site is entirely built in this way, all moderation tools are now built in this way. The new skin was our first step towards moving the main site over to this new architecture. The new header, login form, registration form and password reset process have all been moved over. The new "Appearance Settings" page in the user cp was written using the new API layer/UI layer architecture.

Finally, we remove vBulletin completely and see what breaks :)

As for what's coming up in terms of user facing changes, we're currently working on a super sekrit project that will see us making changes to the main forum view page (i.e. the page that lists the threads in a forum) and the actual thread view.

Beyond that, a new home page is probably on the horizon and I'd personally love to rework the control panel because I can never find anything in there :)

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
