Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I wonder if Rodgers will proclaim this as a 'historic' night for the club :pac:

Similar managers before him have done so......

Chelsea thread it that way Wally >>>>>
    Oh sorry it's Willy

He doesn't care about maintaining possession. Just about shooting

He lacks a footballing brain in the tactical sense quite simply. Completely unable to dictate the tempo of a game.

Great bit of keep ball there.

Liverpool have been quality for the last ten minutes to be fair.

Adam reminds me of kids who want to be the STAR and they think being the STAR is getting the ball giving it to no one and trying to score all the goals from outside the box. But to be honest most kids would do a better job ;)
Ah its a bit harsh he hasnt been bad tonight. He is playing against hearts though but maybe he will fight for his place this year. He seems to want to .

I'm liking Allen, reminds me of a certain Spanish former player in many ways. Sites the simple things well

Allen really is a tidy footballer.

All of Gerrard's weaknesses and about 1% of his talent

Thought Borini was onside, lovely build up though.

Sterling has great fast feet. Practice shooting and we have a very nice player there.

He was well on side there, have a look at the lines on the pitch beglin.

One would have thought that all of his European experience would have helped Webster there.

Oh, that's right, he was 'injured' all the ****ing time.
    Up yours.

    Adam Morgan...what is he like?

Allen has looked decent since he came on.

    Shelvey on the other hand...

Thank you, we'll take that. A bit of a gamble but it worked out well in the end.

Is this years dodgy offsides gonna be last years woodwork? By Christ I hope not. Few today and that Downing one last weekend. Its genuinely sickening when you see a player called offside incorrectly.

    Shelvey was septic tonight.

Pretty poor game, only highlights were the 2 kids.
Sterling looks like he's nearly ready to become a regular,a real handful for any defence.
Paterson had a cracking game too considering the limited opportunities to shine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 677 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Switching over to El Clasico really is an eye opener after watching spearing and shelvey!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,734 ✭✭✭Fowler87

Job done but terrible game for most. Played some good stuff just after goal. Sterling was our best attacker and should at least have a place on bench this Sunday. Defence and Pepe weren't really tested but did well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,267 ✭✭✭opr

Downing is a ****ing left back.

    Opr

    Robinson?

Henderson was good, Adam was more influential than usual, and Sterling was just brilliant. Kelly is NOT a full back (cannot cross the ball), Borini was a little wasteful but was ploughing a loan furrow. And THAT is why Reina has to play in these games...

And Allen was a true leader when he came on, in the way that Stevie used to grab a hold of a game when he came on...

    Steady on lad :D
It was Hearts and he didn't come on and rip them apart or anything.
When he is replacing a player like Spearing it might give you a distorted view on his performance.
He was solid and didn't do much wrong.

Wasn't that the same Hearts team that Spurs beat 5-0 this time last season in same comp with a 2nd string team.

    Me thinks steady on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 978 ✭✭✭Roger Sterling

Hearts were decent tonight. The Liverpool squad is extremrly threadbare outside the first eleven. I think they actuslly had a better bench last season!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

In fairness Hearts were always going be well up for this one.

Cant really say much about Liverpool on tonight. Bigger fish to fry.

People are forgetting that this was essentially the reserves team and we were playing a side who were well up for this.

Have too look at the positives tonight. Sterling was fantastic, with the form he is in, we seriously need to have him on the bench at very least considering his attacking threat. When Allen came on, he completely controlled the game, he must have been furious watching how wasteful Shelvey was. Thought Reina was excellent too, really need him to be back to his best for the weekend.

Really impressed with Borini tonight. He's going to be an absolute handful for defenders this season. He plays off the shoulder of the last man to perfection and was called offside wrongly on a few occasions tonight. Looks a real poacher.

Sterling was excellent. He's got a lot of pace about him and was my MOTM by far.

Cruel blow for Hearts because they were much the better team. Worked their socks off for each other which was nice to see. They can be very pleased with their performances but I think it'll be an uphill battle in the next leg but then again you never know.

It could have been worse. 0-1 is better than 0-5, I s'pose. Mind you, Liverpool couldn't really be arsed, could they?

Hopefully we'll get out of next week's game with a respectable scoreline. In the meantime, I'll cheer myself up by reminding myself why we were playing Liverpool last night.
