ESB should have nothing to do with a job like this as you are past the meter so its nothing to do with there cable.
etci regs state that max height of consumor unit is 2.25M to top or 1.4M to bottom, last time I checked these may be changed. As for a job like this i would definatly recommend a qualified electrician someone that knows what there at, plenty of them around at the mo but theres still plenty of chancers to as i think we are seeing tonight.
As for price a rough guesstimate 300-450E maybe

Ah yeah but I mean there's useful information and then well then there's this kind of child all of 36 and oh so wise. Anyway enough of this meercat I appologise for disagreeing with ya shouldn't have put the high horse bit in,unnecessary :(

As for your man Paddy well he made a great account of himself here and all his wonderful advice perhaps it should be an idea to have an electrical thread with advice solely from electricians and not IT/Construction numptys (couldn't resist)

So where is all this "great electrical advice" then with regards this thread and the OPs questions???

You like to post all sorts of stuff, but for an electrician,I dont see much in the way of "electrical advice" here.

the esb will be required to connect the new upgraded tails into their meter when the board is replaced

It is if the DB is being lowered and the meter tails are now going to be too short etc.

Tails might be coming up the way but then you'll have the services short.

The ESBs concentric cable goes into the meter the incoming cable to the distribution board is not property of ESB thats the homeowners business

The concentric cable is into the cutout.

So if a DB has 6 square into it, and you are moving it, what then?

consumer tails need to be connected into the meter and sealed by the esb

this thread is getting very messy without actually seeing what your dealing with its very hard to say for sure.
I know rules are rules but thats not to say they are'nt bent from time to time and still be safe. This depends on the exact nature of the job so really the only answer for on here is the usual by the book certified electrician, ESB, pay top dollar

So is the ESB needed or not then?

    Thanks.
