Staying here in October, anyone been before? We have stayed in South Point before but wanted something closer to the strip. The reviews on tripadvisor are very mixed between making it sound like a dirty hell-hole who will over-charge your credit card etc.. to the cleanest, highest-quality customer service, best hotel in las vegas. It is a 5-star hotel after all. Any thoughts? :-)

It's a 5* just off the Strip in Vegas, it will surpass your expectations. Relax.

You might want to try hiding a $20/50 bill into your ID page in passport at check-in and smile nicely and ask for 'a nice room'.

Aria is nice. It's more 'modern 5*' if that makes sense. Since they're still pretty new in Vegas if you have any problems just call down to the front desk. I doubt anything will happen when you're there though.
It doesn't have the same 5* vibe as Bellagio or Venetian but depends on what you want/like.

Coming from the SouthPoint it'll seem impressive!

Meh. Technically, it's behind Monte Carlo and the Oriental Mandarin so lets say it is within half a block :)
Wikipedia reckons it's on the strip so I will concede. I'm old school in my definition of "Strip'.

Just booked Paris for the 'rents, a decent partial comp rate on a Red Room Premier, hoping they enjoy the views of Bellagio fountains.

Paris is a good choice. Don't forget to send them to Fremont St! :)

I`m staying there Monday week for 4 nights for the first time. Was in there 2 years ago as a visitor just after it opened and it looked great then.

A lot of people dont particularly like this sort of hotel in Vegas as it is just a straight forward hotel and casino without the "theme" like a lot of peoples favourites.

I`m sure it had some teething problems when it got up and running as most hotels do and a lot of complaints may be related to that.

The standard of the better hotels in Vegas is fantastic. I wouldnt worry one bit about it.

I`ll be back in Ireland on September 14th(going to and back to NY in between the Vegas trip) so will post here my thoughts on The Aria.

**Edit** In fact, just remembered its a Wifi hotel so I`ll try and post some thoughts when I`m there.:)

Will be staying 3 nights here in october. Curious as to what the buffet is like or what is the best buffet in Vegas?

Have stayed in the Excalibur, MGM and Tropicana ... will be staying in the Excalibur again when we go in two weeks ....addicted to Vegas .. 4th time in 6 years :D

The Aria is a nice hotel inside... very modern and fancy but to be honest we decided not to book there as felt it had little atmosphere in the place compared to other hotels. Its well located in the busier end of the strip ... It more or less is on the strip.

I didn't really like the MGM eaither ... far too big although the pool area is lovely!

Decided to stay in the Excalibur again in the updated rooms as the other half hit the jackpot there the last time we stayed there on a slot machine .... so hoping for a free comp and lots of freebies from them when we arrive ;) Its a fun hotel although perhaps not the nicest inside but we are heading with another couple this time so it will be party central!!... Not Prince Harry style though!

Will let you know as we will be trying it out. The last time we were there(two years ago) the best buffet we had was in The Wynn.

Agreed, actually all the restaurants in wynn/encore are in a league of their own.

I'm in New York now but we had our 4 nights in The Aria Monday to Friday last week. Have to say we loved the hotel. Lovely feel to it, the rooms are very nice, quite high tech. The casino is great, nice and spacious and despite being a smoking casino, unlike others doesn't ever feel smokey.

Tried the breakfast buffet and wasnt that impressed to be honest. Not as good a selecting as others , yet ne of the more expensive options. We also had the breakfast buffets at The Bellagio and The Wynn and much preferred them. The Bellagio was fantastic.

We also had a couple of dinners on site in The Aria with mixed results. The first dinner n the Thai restaurant, The Lemongrass was poor from start to finish. Poor food, poor service, cold food sent back etc. other tables were having problems too so we weren't alone.

We had the opposite experience at the Tapas restaurant, Julian Serrano. Great service and great food.

There were more dining options there but we didn't try any of them. It really was a fantastic stay though and I'd have no qualms about recommending the hotel. I also tried the 20 dollar trick and got us upgraded to a City view room overlooking the Monte Carlo, New York New York and the MGM.

The best meal we had in the whole trip was in The Mirage. We had tickets to see Love at 9.30pm so wanted to dine somewhere on site beforehand. We went to Stack who specialise in dry aged steaks and I can honestly say it was the best meal I have ever eaten. The service as great too. Not cheap but so worth it as a treat.

Anyway had a brilliant time n Vegas and anyone that has The Aria booked, you are n for a treat. Beautiful hotel and great location, you won't be disappointed.

I stayed in the ARIA for 7 nights in August!!WOW!!!!What a hotel, absolutely fabulous!!Spotlessley clean, lovely friendly staff, beautiful pool areas, rooms were very spacious & really high tech, remote control everything!!The scents in the hotel were amazing, always beautiful aromas being pumped out!!Beautiful, contemporary, modern hotel..plenty of selection in the Buffets though wasnt too pushed on it, maybe because im not a huge eater though!!Drinks, food etc are expensive in the hotel,5star hotel with 5 star prices:):)!!Small cocktails $16 by the pool, i still drank them though:D!!!Loved the casino in ARIA great buzz in it, their nightclub HAZE is brill too!!!Went into Bellagio & whilst it was fab, felt it was a bit "stuffy" & more for a older crowd!!I cannot recommend ARIA highly enough!!Also loved NEWYORK NEWYORK Hotel!!Whilst it was not half asluxurious as ARIA, it is a very decent hotel, great location, atmosphere & brill pubs in it,well worth a visit!!Enjoy, very jealous!!!

Just wanted to confirm the $20 sandwich still works, at least at Paris.

My parents' flight was delayed by 24 hours and my wife wanted to stay in the Premier room that we had booked for them.

Not only did Paris waive any cancellation fee but they also found us a $25 rate for the first night. A $20 sandwich and a smile and we got a 29th floor Premier room, right next to the elevator (2901) with a perfect view of Bellagios fountains. Probably a $200-$$500 room for $25 total + the $20 tip was just an amazing upgrade and rate.

Recommend, recommend, recommend. Paris was amazing start to finish, no resort fee, no parking fee - just the usual $5 valet tip and could not do enough for us.

Try to join the players club before checking in if you are doing a $20 sandwich, I think it helps.

Try the Rio Buffet if you can. It's off the strip but well worth the trip.

I got a great upgrade in Caesars Palace over New Year using the €20 trick. I think if I was staying somewhere for five or six nights though I'd probably stretch to a €50 just in case.

I'm looking at ARIA for my next trip as the price looks very competative for what seems like a very good hotel.

I was booked into the venetian for the 7 nights through hotwire so you usually get the cheapest rooms going that route. 20 dollar tip worked for the upgrade they moved me to the palazzo which is were I hoped I was booking on hotwire it cost about a $1000 for the week. The room I got was coming up about $1900 plus they waved the same $20 a night resort fee.

Just got back from Paris hotel on the return trip. The $20 trick was no fluke - although we were back because of the great service we received two weeks ago. $20, a smile, a compliment to the hotel's service and a reminder that we were there two weeks ago got both rooms upgraded to the Red Room Luxury rooms on the 28th floor - again overlooking Bellagio. Two rooms for $200-ish total that became incredible value.

My parents were blown away at how this works :D they now think I have some 'pull' in Vegas.

I was surprise the $20 trick worked so well in Hawaii too. I went from $300 a night room(well it only cost me 180 on hotwire ) to a $550 a night room for $20 :D.
