Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Yoko did it.

    John's not dead.

Everyone knows he faked it all and disappeared to get away from Yoko.

He then underwent massive surgery to change his whole identity and I'm pretty sure he moved to New Jersey, became Wonder Mike and formed the Sugarhill Gang.

The thing about giving parole in America is the parole board can get sued if they commit another crime, so basically no-one gets paroled.

If he'd killed Yoko Ono he probably wouldn't have even gone to prison.

    all joking aside

is one man's life more valuable than a other ?
someone made the point if the person was not famous then he would be out by now

    so why not him ?

it really does not make any sense that he keeps getting refused ( unless they know that he will re offend , and i think he is in more danger outside prison than in )
is that not how it works ? parole is decided on reform and risk ?

not saying he should be - but looks strange that if he had shot a street coke dealer in new york ,he would have been free at least 10 years ago

It's been said he killed him because he was infuriated by Lennon preaching everyone should be hippies while cashing in on his image and living a materialistic lifestyle. Perhaps because of his reading and quoting The Catcher in the Rye, which condemns phonies. His references to the book seem to have been more to do with trying to pass himself off as having been in psychosis when he committed the killing though. In his last parole hearing he said he just wanted to get famous, and that he had also considered Jimmy Carson and Elizabeth Taylor.

I think the latter is true. Wanting to be significant seems to be the motive for a lot of the more shocking and apparently random killings.

    What did Madonna do wrong??

Heck, she even wore a see-threw bra recently in Dublin (search 'Madonna HD Dublin' on the YouTube for proof). Someday down the line (when I'm like in my 70's or so) and banging women in their 50's, I hope they look half as good as she does now.

Its probably for his own safety that he be kept in prison. Beatles fans and Lennon fans would lynch him

If he is released there has to be some conditions...................

He takes out Bieber, Minage, Gaga and Tubridy.

    Preferably with a crossbow.

I would even spit n shine the tips of the arrows for him.

He missed his son's growing up. Sure he'd want him in prison. If it were me I'd want him dead.

I'll be eaten alive for this but did the guy not do the rest of the Beatles a big favour by killing Lennon. I've always thought that the Beatles are over rated. I think that if Lennon hadn't been assassinated that the Beatles would never have attained the legendary status that they have. I don't condone the guy killing him.

    *I'll get my coat*

No he wouldn't; this is America; where life means life.

If he killed someone in Ireland, then he would have been out 15 years ago.

Chapman wanted the fame of been the man who killed the Beatle and got it ...at a price ,his appeal has been turned down again today .

    That's great news .

Many others would love to kill him just to say ,they killed the guy who killed the Beatle .

Some of the comments here are ridiculous.

"The Beatles were a bit crap".

    1) No they weren't. They were great. Even if you don't like them they more than likely had a massive influence on the music you listen to.

    2) Even if they were crap what's that got to with a member of the band being murdered?

"If he killed someone who was not famous, he would be out by now"

If Mark Chapman had murdered someone who wasn't famous he may or may not have been released by now. Who's to say? Every case is different. Also the authorities may well feel that he's still a danger. John Lennon isn't the only celebrity who Mark Chapman wanted to kill. Apparently he had also been planning on killing David Bowie. If released he might very well become obsessed with another celebrity.

I don't get why this makes it into the news though. Prisoners are allowed to apply for parole. That's the way the justice system works. I don't see what the big news story is. All it's doing is giving a murderer the fame he longs for. The less attention he gets the better.

Exactly ...he wouldn't last long on the outside either .It's just a pity that he didn't top himself as planned before he 'murdered ' Lennon
