If Shams and CCFC draw, they will end up playing each other 3 times in a week as the replay is scheduled for Monday 27th and we are due to play in the league Friday 31st.

A draw would be great for us from a financial point of view, but given how thin our squad is, it would be a complete pain in the ass. I don't think we will get a draw tmr anyway, unless the cup specialists put out a second string and are more concentrating on the league.

Out of interest, has Shane O Connor done anything for ye yet?

Won't be able to make it down to Dalymount this week. Hopefully no hiccups against Avondale, cup is all we have to play for this season.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Fingers crossed Bohs get a good result against Avondale. Should be a formality really but look what happened in Iceland..... :(

And Avondale are a far better team by all accounts, beat Sheriff comfortable recently. Taking nothing for granted but could live with a similar outcome to the Sheriff Shels one.

    I wouldn't bet on it.

Drew the last 5 at home I think, a replay is a good bet..

Don't think O'Connor has even made the bench yet, certainly not played.

Rovers strong favs. for Cup game. They are the Cup specialists after all.

We need to take our chances when they come tomorrow.

    We won't get many.

Prediction : Shamrock Rovers 2-0 Cork City

A lot of sides have their season riding on the cup this weekend.

League can be wrapped up for Rovers with a win as well.

    Dreading tomorrow night. :(

Btw, we're 7+3 on the cup wins.

    Gypos 7+1.

Will make my way to Rovers/Cork game tomorrow.

    Not expecting anything.

I can see two upsets in this round. I think UCD could cause a surprise against Derry and although Shams have been playing well I have a feeling Cork could sneak this tie.

Upset of the round may be in Malahide.

Impressed the match is on out there on the Friday night.

I think so too. We're not good enough to beat any team at the minute and struggled badly against a local summer league select a week ago.

I think Glen Crowe is playing for Malahide.

Change of plans mean I can make our game vs Avondale. Very wary of the threat they pose, they're not the best non-league team in the country for nothing!

I see two what I would consider proper upsets tonight.

Really fancy Malahide tonight against Dundalk. Good team with good experienced players and management set up.

I also fancy The Orchard against Shels. Will be very tough for CO but I think if they have a good evening they can sneak it.

Delighted we not on TV this week, great Sligo crowd at the game reckon 800-1000 easy.

They played for a draw and got one, no League thread so this will do.

1 shot on target each of note and one of the most entertaining games i have seen this season.

I don't know, what were the odds on 3-1 Shelbourne. Neither was the score at HT though.

Dunno why but im always sceptical about a certain teams results.

Dont suppose you know the odds of 2 penos and 1-1 at HT? (seems that is what it was)

Jaysis would a make a killing on that in the bookies.... i assume.... is that right?

Happy with our 1-0 victory away to UCD tonight, bar the red card.

Hoping for a home tie in the next round now.

Our only hope of silverware this year.

Odds on h-t 1:1 with both goals being penos scored by Hughes eight gazillion to one.

Shels players Crimbo sesh in Rio.

    White and hoes for all.

Back in the real world, relieved to be through.

Amazing how a football fan's mind works. We're cat, but still living for Monday evening's draw on MNSF. :)

PS:Congrats to Sligo on wrapping up the league tonight.

Looking at rte's coverage back, Stewart must be offside for the 1st goal, but the second goal, great stuff.

Great to have him back, him and Kilduff have been excellent while Twigg has been out of sorts.

From reports it appears The Youths put in a good display in Drogheda. Only beaten 1-0 and threatening on the break. We had our left midfield player, Aidan Keenan, in goal with our No.1 suspended and our No.2 injured

We never showed up last night. Never got ball down and gave it away so cheaply.

Rovers deserved their victory. Fine second goal. Not seen replays, but we had clear Penalty shout near the end for handball. Was as clear as day. Not made difference, but had it been only 1-0 or level it would have been huge.

id not expect much more last night in terms of result, but performance was still below average.

Was there many in Tolka last night? Usually, I can hear something in the back garden, not last night, quiet as a graveyard it was.

We were no great shakes but Malahide were very poor. Could have easily scored another couple quite easily.

Gearoid Morrissey was the diamond in the rough. Stong in the tackle. Drove forward and some lovely passing in midfield.

He has set himself a benchmark for rest of the season.

I came up with a feeling it was going to be a special night, and as we sang the Rebel Army for a good 10 minutes in full voice before kickoff I really thought it was going to be a special night. Had Daryl scored, it would have been.

Once again I think we all came away feeling disappointed, but for a different reason. Last Friday was gutless and clueless. This week we had more than enough chances to win, and I thought at the very worst we'd get a replay considering how poor they were going forward. As it was, more slack defending from a set piece cost us. That being said, we looked very good at the back for a long period of the game, and completely shut down Twigg. As a matter of fact nearly everyone had a good game, bar two or three players.

One of them being Davin. I'm sorry, but looking at him tonight, he's just not good enough. He saw plenty of the ball tonight and had it in great positions, and just wasted it. Nearly every single time he was on the ball we lost it, he offers little to no attacking threat, even against Pats at home, one-on-one and fluffed his lines completely. He was one of the main reasons why we lost tonight, the fact that he kept losing the ball in great positions put pressure on us, and allowed Rovers to get away with a lot at the back. Parker was okay but had little impact on the game besides picking up his customary booking. Vinny worked as hard as ever and to be fair was unlucky with one in the first half where the ball just hopped the wrong way from him, why Tommy thought Ian Turner was a better option I haven't a clue, also why he'd bring on Stephen Kenny so late, beggars belief!

Crowd were fantastic, apart from the one or two langers that were causing hassle. First chanting racist chants and then trying to square up to one of our regulars, as for that aforementioned lad who fell on top of me, he'll be fairly ashamed tomorrow morning when he finds out what happened. Lots of people go for a drink or two before the game but why you'd want to be pissed in a petrol station in County Kildare at 4 in the afternoon I just don't understand. Besides that though there was a fantastic atmosphere, and nearly everyone rowed in behind the effort. Most of these people were in their teens, which I think shows a lot of people on the forum that the age of people isn't the reason why there's been a lack of atmosphere.

It boils down to not winning games, and as much as winning is a habit so is losing and unfortunatly we've gotten into the habit of the latter. We have no goalscorer, and worse still there's absolutely nothing on the bench to come on. Apart from Davin last week how often have we had an 'impact' sub in a game this season? But as I said to a few people, when two teams play each other twice in a week rarely is the first result repeated, so hopefully we can get an important win at home next Friday!

We should have had the match wrapped up much earlier, Casso with the two chances, Cronin with one and Hughes iirc with another, all great chances. Cherry Orchard are by far the worse LSL side I've seen against us, didn't look up to much for the most part, and a peno and a flukey header for their goals.

We played a reserve team in that game as do most premier sides for LSC. Still doesn't change the fact that I also expected an upset in this game.
Hopefully it'll give the players a bit of confidence to pick up enough points in the run in to keep us up.
