Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The legs were tangled because Alexis hooked his leg behind that of Arbeloa.

No they just got tangled. If anything it was more of a penalty than a dive. He deserved a yellow in the first half, that one 100% was not a dive or any magical trickery. I guess we'll just agree to disagree.

Also Pedro was offside. Too close for a human to see in real time though I'd imagine so good decision as he gave the benefit of the doubt to the attacker which is not common place these days.

Insane that Barcelona are still continuing with Valdes, the guy is dodgy as ****.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭BetterCallSaul

Barca won't buy a keeper who just kicks the ball up field though. Barca's attack starts with Valdes playing a pass.

Always liable to do something stupid every so often. He done something similar against Madrid last year if I remember?

Gotta feeling they'll be knocking for DDG in a few years :(

He is a very solid keeper and has improved season by season but he doesnt have the bottle for the big matches.
He gets nervous and makes clangers .

Poor Valdes, I really like the guy, he's an excellent fit for Barca in the way that he almost acts as a sweeper but he's prone to the odd mistake in big games. There's absolutely no need to replace him though, he doesn't do that often.

Anyway, great second half, as usual in these games Barca didn't wake up until they conceded, and then they really showed what they can do. Some of their play was breath-taking, football at its purest. Can't wait for the second leg, Real will actually have to attack which should make for a great game.

Third goal deserves to separate the two teams. Mastery.

    Very well said.
Iniesta is an absolute monster, when that game burst into life Iniesta was in the middle of every thing! Some good football played in that second half from both teams.

El Classico - Pepe = football from both sides

Starting at the later time of half 9, can't wait, perfectly poised after last week. RM won't be able to play for a draw as per usual. Hope to see Modric get some time.

Valdes has given Madrid a crucial lifeline. I'd still fancy Barca though.

FCB starting line-up: Valdés, Alves, Piqué, Mascherano, Adriano, Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi and Pedro #fcblive

    FC Barcelona ‏@FCBarcelona

    R. Madrid's starting line-up: Casillas, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Khedira, C.Ronaldo, Özil, Marcelo, Alonso, Arbeloa, Higuaín & Di María #FCBLive

Really fancy Barca for this, love see them lining up in there traditional 4-3-3 line-up.

Rafa at rock bottom. Can't get a decent job anywhere else in football, scraping the bottom of the barrel with Sky Sports.
